As I mentioned in TBP, I not only think that this punishment was an overreaction, I also think that it could have some pretty harmful consequences. First, I don't think anyone reading those messages fails to come away with the idea that orange is lonely and unstable and a little desperate for attention. He has one friend, blue. He is still talking about a girl he briefly dated four years ago because he hasn't met a girl he likes/who likes him since. When blue punishes him, he reacts in desperation, flooding blue with messages of guilt and anger. So this emotionally unstable lonely guy who probably has self esteem issues just lost his only friend and everyone he knows just got a message that he's an asshole. I can see that pushing him to suicide.

If it doesn't cause him to hurt himself, I can see it pushing him further into hurting others. This guy is now alone and angry and everyone thinks he's an asshole. What motivation does he have to change? Everyone thinks he's an awful person, so why should he be anything but? Also, blue's betrayal will probably fuel his bitterness and send him further into the ugliest parts of TRP.

So blue's acts are not only unfair, but ineffective if the goal is to reform orange(which I think it should be).

Yeah, both of them are shit heads, the OP less so. But still, OP's actions weren't warranted.

I think the reasonable response would have been making a calculated effort to figure out who the girl was. Then the OP could have found her boyfriend and anonymously messaged him.

TBP reaction to this shows us the kind of terrible people they are. Which is why TRP has no qualms about them mocking us. Its not like were getting mocked by morally righteous, up-standing, and dignified people. Were getting mocked by people who think its okay what OP did to someone who saved his life. Its all very sad.

Some replies to your comments first and then I'll give my opinion on the issue:

The OP of the post sent out ~1000 messages to a supposed redpiller's female friends "warning" them that his buddy is a manipulator, and that he forced a woman to cheat on her SO.

I don't think he claimed that he's "forced" her to do anything and instead the OP uses the word "convinced". I think it's a valid concern if someone is convincing another person that they want to be in a relationship with them so that they break up their current relationship so that they can be with them, only to find that the guy was doing it just for short term sex.

Regardless of how you feel about the subject of the post (Orange guy, who we can refer to as just "orange" for simplicity) do you think that the "punishment" fit the "crime" here?

I think it's inaccurate to describe it as a "punishment". I don't think the OP is doing it to punish the guy, but rather attempting to help a lot of people from being conned into a date by a disturbed individual.

How I feel about it: as I'm sure everyone will agree, Orange is a creepy asshole. Should Blue have done what he did though? I don't know.

On one hand, I personally would feel bad about mass messaging someone's friends, family and coworkers about something as sensitive as that and I'm not sure I could square it up with my personal ethics. However, on the other hand, I can also see that this guy was in a position where he has a predator describing his abusive behavior and he can't think of another way to shut it down. So in that sense, I'm not sure I could just sit back a let a predator carry on with his abusive ways and not at least attempt something.

It sort of seems like whatever he did, it would have been shitty behavior - messaging people is arguably the lesser of two evils. That is assuming there was no better option. I can't think of any right now but if someone can think of one then I'd definitely change my position there.

Does TRP's outrage here prove that TRP is wrong about sexual strategy? This is a strategy, and TRP claims strategy is amoral, so if this is offensive they've contradicted themselves.

Is TRP's outrage inconsistent? We've seen TRP celebrate public shaming before, including spreading the image of a woman they admit was being sexually assaulted and celebrating that she got what was coming to her.

What about the whole "makeup is false advertising" argument TRP throws around? Wouldn't revealing Orange's PUA-nature be "truth in advertising" by that reasoning?
