Your friend meant that he will be attracted to you from day one, not that he will love you from day one. Men know exactly what they're attracted for, so if you don't have what he's looking for, he may not give you a second glance. Also, if someone tells you that he loves you instantly after knowing you for a day, you should avoid this person like the plague lol

I think it’s easy to say that upon reflection. I will say I felt an attachment/attraction to my husband from day 1 that I never felt with any other guy before. He made my days happier, everything was doable knowing I would get to see him at the end of the day. But being so in love with him now for 5 years, it’s difficult to honestly look back at the beginning and gauge my true feelings. I think it was the beginnings of love at first sight, but who’s to say. My husband says the same kinds of things. That he knew to chase me a bit, but he can’t remember exactly how he felt at the very start aside from happy.

I will say that obsession can often read as love at first sight so it’s important to be wary of that. Attachment issues are never attractive.

There's no such thing as love at first sight. Life is not a paranormal romance novel. You are not a Disney princess. Affection and attraction are somewhat intertwined and grow over time. You should always have the potential for both, but nothing real will hit you like a strike of lightning.

I think it is another way of saying “you can’t change a person”. Which is true.

When i was dating, eons ago lol, i could tell from the first date if this is someone i could “love” or not.

When i met my wife, i knew from the first date that she was a potential “one”.

Obviously, there is alot that builds into love that doesnt happen on first dates, like sexual chemistry, how they treat family, others, handle pressure etc.

Men or women, I don’t think anyone should love someone from day one. That sets you up for a lot of unrealistic expectations and definite disappointments.

Being attracted to, liking someone is normal and essential. But love is a process of trust that builds over time by consistently showing up everyday for the other person.

Personally, I’d be very concerned if a man told me they loved me from day 1. I’d think they have very poor vetting skills. They don’t even know me as a person so that only means that they love the idea of me.

No. That's a horrible thought process. If we're talking legit love, it would be creepy as hell for him to be in love with you from day 1. Granted, he should know pretty soon after (6 weeks or so), but not only is your friend setting up HORRIBLE expectations for men, she's getting infatuation and love confused.

I started dating somebody very casually and with no real intent for anything, but after maybe four months I fell harder and deeper in love than with anybody I’ve known; before or since.

Attraction is definitely not negotiable, but anyone who loves me without knowing me is highly suspect. They don’t actually love me as a person, just the idea of who I am and what I can stand for in his life. I went on a few dates with a couple guys like this and it was a hard pass.

Nah, not true, maybe for some but blanket statements are silly imo.

My husband (11 years strong) took his time deciding if I was “worth it”, he didn’t tell me he loved me until 8 months in! He said it was sooner but he was absolutely not a love at first sight guy the way I was for him. Connection at first sight, attraction at first sight absolutely, but for some people Love is something that takes time and experiences.

She's kinda right, but love is not the correct word to use. She means attraction. If the guy is not really attracted to a woman, the relationship will rarely work out. Usually it will go down in flames really fast. From a guy's perspective, the foundation of a relationship is built on raw attraction, only if that foundation is there, can the relationship flourish.
