I need some help. My husband and I both agree with the captain/first mate relationship philosophy, but I seem to have a problem with fully letting go and letting him lead properly. Sometimes I'll ask for an explanation to his decision until I have enougn info to agree with him before accepting what he says. Sometimes it'll just be a reaction to question him. I desperately want to be a good wife and follow his lead, but I seem to fail him more than I'd like to. He says he thinks I don't fully trust him and respect him as a leader. Intellectually and logically I absolutely do. He is an amazing husband and father who has proven himself time and time again. So why do I do this? It isn't all the time, but it's definitely more frequently than we're both happy with. I do experience anxiety, so letting go of all of the little "what ifs" can be a challenge for me. But why can't his voice be a reassurance that I don't need to worry about all of those what ifs? I feel ashamed for failing him and myself. A recent instance popped up and we've both been speaking about it, and I thought I'd reach out to you ladies for your thoughts. Have any of you struggled with this and how have you overcome it? Needless to say, the situation is deeply upsetting for the both of us. Am I just not cut out to be a good wife?
