I see this as a part of a bigger structure, which is the way social change happens in gradations. Or, more generally, the science of growth - each layer building upon the layer that came before it.

We are currently in an ongoing shift away from conservatism, which means we still collectively have one foot in the door and out the other. The result of this is that women benefit both from conservatism and liberalism when it suits them, cheerypicking which elements of conservatism they like and ignoring it's corresponding responsibility.

I wish there was no social expectation for guys to provide something of monetary value to someone who doesn't just find their time and company precious for what it is.
