That went about as well as I would have expected it to go, you dumped a load of facts on her and even though she claimed to have studied it for four years wasn't able to give you anything in return except for stating she just worked a 12 hour shift.

That tells me two things

Her education is useless for anything other than overnight shelf stacking and two

She's really never had anybody question her view of the world

You can find an education for anything in college, most of my professors all share the same opinions without any consequences for being wrong and despite not being versed in the subjects they're opinionated in.

A good source to tell these wage gap people is the real gap is between mothers and everyone else. (Never married) not single women actually earn more than men in their professions especially in academia.

Just to give you some support, I will go over the mistakes that the user made when confronting you.

You started out by talking about the wage gap debunk, and other “statistics tricks” that people use to try and justify a need for feminism. Fair enough, and a valid objection.

When someone says to you, “I have been studying this, therefore I am right about this subject,” even if they have been studying it, it is called an Argument from Authority Fallacy, or an Argument from Accomplishment Fallacy. Both apply. Really, anyone can claim something that is true about any field, and expertise does not imply that someone has made a true claim.

You then outline the benefits women have in modern society. I will just add that a good thing to bring up is that feminists often confuse the “suffering of life” that is unavoidable, with “women suffering when men don’t suffer.” Men suffer too. It is life. But yeah, you made an okay point.

Their next response is a Loaded Question Fallacy, or a Fallacy of Loaded Terms. They suggest you are ignoring evidence as a premise, and therefore the evidence is never presented. They never showed you a law that is “male only.” They assumed that you agree, and this is what it means to load a question / claim.

You’re response is thorough. Nothing to add.

Their deflection and escape from the conversation could have been legitimate. I have a feeling that they will imbed layers of fallacious reasoning in future comments, as they have done previously, and there may be more difficult errors to identify. If you post an update, I could most likely debunk them logically, too.

You should read books about what BOTH sides have to say, so you can see the point of view from both perspectives and understand where both sides are coming from.

Then you make up your own opinion based on what you believe is right.

That was a grab bag of “facts”. I like how they started as statistics, meandered into a little projection, then back into statistics. We went to some other countries in there.

The alimony thing gave me a bit of a chuckle. Like, yes, it is real that women are more likely to get custody and that it screws fathers a bit, but I also know a lot of women so lol parenting children because the dad’s peace’s tf out. There only every other weekend, and generally don’t give a rats ass about their kids, only appearances.

Have you considered why it is that courts favor women and why rape and violence against men isn't taken seriously? It's because of misogyny. It ironically hurts men too.

We are taught to believe that women are dainty, naive little flowers who need to be protected and taken care of. Inversely, men should be dominant, stoic, rugged providers. So if a woman punches her husband in the face it's no surprise that nobody takes it seriously given that men are perceived as naive weaklings by default. "You know how women get, she's just emotional, plus it couldn't have hurt that bad". This thought process is damaging to all of us.

The way I see it, by addressing the inferior social perception of women, we are also addressing the issues these stereotypes cause for men.

Apart from the regular pissing contests, i have come across another complaint against the MRM that its mostly people talking and writing long paragraphs about men’s issues but there is no significant legwork being done to solve those by the MRAs. Got to give it to first and second wave feminists that they fought tooth and nails against the system to get rights and equality but I’m criminally unaware of any major movements in the real world around these issues (spreading awareness on colon caner, male suicides or even petitions to abolish drafts for men).
