damn, they actually threw the book at her

judge is a confirmed mod of this subreddit

[–]Ducman69 92 points93 points94 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"Special" kid, that's why. She even used the "get pregnant to get out of jail free" card, and somehow it didn't work... weird. They will still probably let her out early though "for the sake of the child", and not make her serve a full 18 years.

[–][deleted] 37 points38 points39 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The DA wanted her to receive the max sentence of 24 years.

[+][deleted] -6 points-5 points-4 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I doubt that.

[–]102938475601 17 points18 points19 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

No, it’s true. You can’t post stuff on the internet that isn’t true.

“Weld Deputy District Attorney Arynn Clark reminded the court the child sexual assault statute was written to be gender blind and Enriquez didn't deserve a lighter sentence because she is a woman”

[–][deleted] 79 points80 points81 points 7 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

It’s because she’s not hot.

[–]Turtle08atwork 47 points48 points49 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, so judges are confident that it was a rape.

That's exactly what came to mind when I saw her picture. It's sad but she did do the crime.

[–]aunt_pearls_hat 3 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And she apparently ate the whole thing.

[–]matrixislife 80 points81 points82 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Enriquez said she didn't want to miss out on a lifetime of her daughter's milestones.

Then don't abuse the kids at school.

Another family member took aim at the victim's family, uttering another expletive before being escorted from the courtroom by a sheriff's office deputy.

Her family are all sick fucks.

Came here to say this. Who does this? What a twisted family.

[–]TosiHulluMies 59 points60 points61 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What do you bet that her pregnancy was a calculated move in an attempt to get sympathy? That's what I think based on her statement about a second miscarriage.

[–]Professor_Dumfuk 5 points6 points7 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She was doomed as soon as they named her 'Jerica'.

[–]keell 78 points79 points80 points 7 years ago (33 children) | Copy Link

"sexual assault", you mean like rape? Switch the genders and it would have been a very different narrative.

[–][deleted] 26 points27 points28 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Colorado doesn’t have a rape law. They have several different sexual assault laws.

[+]blue_magoo_62 -40 points-39 points-38 points 7 years ago (31 children) | Copy Link

Is coercing someone into sex and getting them to think its a good idea the same as smashing their head against a wall, putting a knife against their throat and fucking them against their will? I have no idea the details of what this lady did, but i do believe those two examples are different and perhaps should have different terms applied to them. What do you reckon?

[–][deleted] 45 points46 points47 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

His point is that if it were a man in the exact same situation (so no violence), people would still call it rape

[+]blue_magoo_62 -32 points-31 points-30 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Thats probably very likely. Still, i was merely asserting that is a distinction between a sexual assault and a rape.

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points15 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So long as i dont smash their head or pull a knife, i guess i can fuck any mentally handicapped kid and it isnt rape? Its JUST sexual assault. Do i have this about right?

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah you guys are actually both right, just tried to clear up the misunderstanding. Cheers

[–][deleted] 26 points27 points28 points 7 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

Non-consensual sex is rape.

Since a 14-year-old is a child and therefore cannot legally consent, this is rape.

End of story.

[+]blue_magoo_62 -15 points-14 points-13 points 7 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Not according to this court it isnt. Seems this judge and you disagree. Now, unless you're a judge of a higher standing it's not really your place to be explaining criminal terms to me is it?

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points8 points 7 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

What would you call non-consensual sex?

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Let me explain it this way then:

According to the absolutely dumb laws we have in the us, rape is when a penis violates a women in a non consensual way.

"Penetration, no matter how slight, of the vagina or anus with any body part or object, or oral penetration by a sex organ of another person, without the consent of the victim."

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

As you said, rape laws in the US are dumb. If laws are supposed to be enforced equally among citizens regardless of gender, then "rape" laws should remove their cherry-picking descriptions and find a legal way to basically just say "sexual intercourse or oral sex without consent" without stating that a vagina or anus has to be penetrated.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I agree. However, these are the laws we must follow for now.

[–]blue_magoo_62 -3 points-2 points-1 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Obviously she didnt have had sex with them then.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Incorrect. Colorado doesn't have rape laws. They have various levels of sexual assault and unlawful sexual contact laws. By charging her with sexual assault, they charged her with the highest level of sexual crime in the state of Colorado. Before being condescending, perhaps do a minute of research so you don't look like an idiot.

[–]blue_magoo_62 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

So there are varying levels of sexual assult that aren't necessarily rape. Which was my point all along.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Incorrect again. But good try. You'll get it one day

[–]Matthew_1453 9 points10 points11 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It was sex without consent (ie: rape)

[–]WeatherfordCast -4 points-3 points-2 points 7 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

Rape involves the penetration of an unconsenting party or a party that’s unable to consent, in this case the fourteen year old boy. Your ugly straw man of what you think involves is false.

[–]thxnwy 12 points13 points14 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You are citing an obsolete and unfair definition of rape: while in some jurisdictions that's true, slowly "made to penetrate" makes to books.

It's completely reasonable to expect equal application of the law when protecting children from sexual predators regardless of the victim's and perpetrator's gender. That's a completely legitimate men's rights issue.

[–]blue_magoo_62 -4 points-3 points-2 points 7 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

So why didnt she get charged with rape then fuck-o? You know, by the person with the actual judicial power and propper knowledge of legal terms. Yknow, unlike you.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 7 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

You can't fucking provide any arguments, shut your fucking mouth. It's rape. Period.

[–]blue_magoo_62 -1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Er yes my argument is why did a judge not deem it rape then? Seems to me that some things are rape and some things are sexual assult. But some douche on the internet knows better and were to bow to the likes of you? Neither of us actually know what this woman did. But nooooo, anything and everything is rape isnt it.

Was it your uncle who got ya?

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 7 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

"Some douche on the internet" provided an argument. You can't provide shit. So shut your fucking mouth, again. She had sex with someone who couldn't consent, that's rape. End of the story.

[–]blue_magoo_62 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

She couldnt have had sex with them stupid. Because she got charged with sexual assault. By your own definition she couldn't have, what you think the judge just forgot what terms mean? Maybe they should have checked with you first. End of discussion.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Cuz she still got a pussy pass? At least in that form. What's so hard to comprehend? Even though as I think of it it is a bit different when a woman rapes a man, he still has to get an erection and stuff....maybe you're right after all ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I was kinda angry about something, sorry for that....

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Jesus, you're stupid. Look up Colorado's laws, fuck-o. Sexual assault is how rape is classified in this state. Fucking moron.

[–]blue_magoo_62 -1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Good for them, they figures out there are varying levels of sexual assault that aren't necessarily rape.

Pretty much my point since the beginning. Jesus you people are triggered easily.

All i started out saying was violent rape is more fucked up than coercion.

[–]KingZorc 12 points13 points14 points 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

She'll end up appealing, getting some bleeding heart judge who takes pity on her, and has it reduced to the minimum allowed sentence.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points9 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

You seem to have a firm grasp on the appellate process the US.

[–]norjiteiro 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

How does it work? Where I live (not US) you cannot appeal the sentence itself, only the process of law or other technicalities.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It's both at least where I live. My state has sentencing guidelines and if you think the court miscalculated them you can appeal on those grounds. Sometimes people will try appealing claiming their sentence violates the eight amendment but it normally has to be just an insanely harsh sentence for that to succeed. Life without parole for a first time offender in a small drug deal to an undercover officer is one of the few times I'm aware a sentence has been ruled to violate the eighth amendment for example. A massive amount of appeals will be focused on stuff like the Judge allowing illegal evidence and other shit like that.

[–]norjiteiro 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Very interesting, and seems reasonable. Thanks for a serious reply!

During her argument for a maximum sentence of 24 years to life in prison, Weld Deputy District Attorney Arynn Clark reminded the court the child sexual assault statute was written to be gender blind and Enriquez didn't deserve a lighter sentence because she is a woman. [4] [2]

"I've argued a lot of position of trust cases in this courtroom and this is the most aggravated one I have ever seen," Clark said, noting the case received coast-to-coast media attention given the gender inversion of the perpetrator and the victim. "The court is in a unique position to send a message that Weld County will protect our boys as much as we protect our girls." [4]

Someone get this prosecutor a gavel!

[–]DukeMaximum 15 points16 points17 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Here's a fun little game to play: Try to find an article about this story that uses the words "assault" or "rape" in the headline. Because, according to the first page of Google results, "student sex case" is the harshest language I can find.

[–][deleted] 23 points24 points25 points 7 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link

I think the word you're looking for is Rape

[+][deleted] -9 points-8 points-7 points 7 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

Sticking something in an orifice without consent is rape. Stimulating external appendages is not rape.

[–]UgLyBiRdMaNN 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

You’re part of the problem

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

Who said there's a problem?

[–]UgLyBiRdMaNN 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

People who perpetuate this “men can’t get raped” argument

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Men can get raped. Men get raped all the time. Are you accidentally responding to someone else?

[–]UgLyBiRdMaNN 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

You said stimulating external genitalia is not rape.

Simply put, rape is non consensual sex

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

By whose definition? Could you define sex, please.

[–]UgLyBiRdMaNN 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Intercourse between two or more people

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

You don't seem to be taking this very seriously. Your flippant answers are annoying. Please provide a real definition. Intercourse is another vague terminology. Please define any words that are ambiguous in your description if you want me to respond in a proper way.

So you might want to explain what is and is not intercourse in your understanding.

I'll give you a chance to show you are serious but just so you know at this point I feel like you are either a troll or someone who has the mentality of a 14 year old.

[–]dgblarge 6 points7 points8 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No! Maybe too soon? Nah, never too soon for something like that. But no, not too late. Extremely relevant. But Asia's boy wasn't "special needs and was 17, so the age of consent in some jurisdictions (although not sure, Asia was in her 30's when that happened so maybe not).

It's so upsetting to hear that the kids had to endure this trauma.. but it's also such a huge relief that the court finally gives a female predator the sentence she deserves and even emphasizes that they will protect boys and girls equally.

Elopement is a very common behavior for intellectually disabled people who dislike their immediate environment. Can’t imagine why that’d be with a bunch of enlightened students like you around.

[+][deleted] -33 points-32 points-31 points 7 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

I don't get it, often times confessed murderers get less jail time. I'm sick of people equating underage sex to something just as bad as murder. 4 years aint that much. That's like a grade 8 or 9 student scoring with a grade 12 student. We live in fucked up times.

I'm not sure if you're trolling or just stupid but I'll bite and help you out. She was born in Feb 1992, the rape happened in Oct 2016. She was 24 at the time. The student was 14, so a ten year difference. Age gap is not the only factor, and I'd argue it's irrelevant. She had a position of authority over him and used her position to manipulate him.

I concede I did not know that. Still, life in prison? I mean it's a breach of trust and creepy but life in prison? I'd say 5 years with no chance of parole.

There's always one pedophile defender

This wasn't underage sec this was a teacher that abuse students with special needs she is a paedophile like the coach that diddles the team.

4 years aint that much. That's like a grade 8 or 9 student scoring with a grade 12 student.

Oh is see your problem you mistook the time she serves for her age. She is actually 26 years old you should read the article my man before posting.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

daaaaaaaaamn

[–]Reeyou 6 points7 points8 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Where are you getting 4 years age difference? The article says she was born in 1992, making her 26 years old.

[–]Mode1961 16 points17 points18 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

She was a teachers assistant NOT a grade 12 student. Citation where confessed murderers get less time and since you said "OFTEN TIMES", I would like at least 250 cases

[–]Bobthemime 5 points6 points7 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You will get 1 case where it is slightly connected at best. Trolls very rarely back up their claims

[–]LimousineLibtard 4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Oh look! A pedophile defender! John Podesta is that you?

Although what she did was disgusting and unethical I think 18 years is a bit extreme. Plus, taxpayers will be funding this for all of that time.

Why did this never happen to me?

Why weren’t you sexually assaulted or molested? I guess you just weren’t a cute kid.

Gender is irrelevant. We're talking about an adult, in the position of a role model, having sex with troubled children instead of educating them.
Nothing about that sounds wrong to you?
What is going on in your head that makes you think just because it isn't traumatic means it's okay?
There is absolutely no instance where it is okay for an adult to have sex with a child.

[+][deleted] -8 points-7 points-6 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

what is going on in your head that makes you think just because it isn't traumatic means it's okay?

Simple. I have experienced life. I have been the victim of traumatising events and non-traumatising events. I know which I prefer. Is that really difficult to understand? If so, please tell me which traumatising event you think is ok.

I;m sure this is too logical for you though.

There is absolutely no instance where it is okay for an adult to have sex with a child.

Like I said, I wont speak for women, I don't know what its like to have a vagina penetrated. I do know what it is like to have my anus penetrated and that is actually mildly traumatising. I can imagine actual female rape is as bad and possibly worse if the victim is socialised to believe that there is special significance to sexual assault. I sincerely believe that not all sexual assaults are traumatising though because I myself have been the "victim" but I wound never call myself a victim because it was not at all harmful to me.

We will not see eye to eye on this one. Thank you for sharing your views. Best of luck.

I want to know who the hell are these pussy girls who are willing to testify against him?

This kind of thing goes on way more than is reported but most 14 year old girls are smart enough to keep it quiet when it does. They know a good thing when they see it.

Who really cares if a 14 year old girl gets to have sex with an older man? It's not in the least bit traumatic, slightly scary at first but not at all negative.

All you women on here are just jealous and annoyed that a man has never even looked at you as a sexual object.

You aren't clever, simply lazy.

I don't know if you are male or female but I am not a woman so I am not going to pretend like I know what it would be like to be raped.

Nevertheless I know for sure that having someone put something in side my body without my consent, particularly as a child, as is the case in ACTUAL rape, is far different to having heterosexual sex as a boy or a man. If she had stuck a dildo in him then I would agree with you but as the old saying goes you're not comparing apples and oranges.

To compare the 2 and treat them as equal is to lessen what rape actually is.

Listen to what I am saying - I can categorically assure you that it is not in any way a traumatic experience for a 14 year old to have sex with a woman.

You must be a troll because nothing you've said in this entire thread has any semblance of intelligence to it.

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points0 points 7 years ago (19 children) | Copy Link

Nope. Just speaking to experience. The only trolls around here are the ones I spoke about earlier who have less experience than the "victim" of the so called crime.

[–]Genghis_Frog 4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (18 children) | Copy Link

The fact that you don't think a crime was committed, or that a child (special needs or not) being taken advantage of by an adult (especially one in a position of power) isn't a victim, says more than I ever could.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link

Yup it says I have been there. It didn't hurt me or feel like I was being taken advantage of so I didn't see myself as any kind of victim.

[–]Genghis_Frog 3 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (16 children) | Copy Link

Raped by some person who was responsible for your safety and you've had trouble coming to terms with it? Sorry that happened to you.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

I haven't had to come to terms with anything. That is the point. I was not raped - I was the penetrator so how can you call it rape?

She wanted it and I wanted it, there is a 11 year age difference but I could have stopped it if I had wanted because I was physically stronger.

I'm not a victim so why would I want to damage her life by saying I was "raped"?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

The good old "I liked when someone committed statutory rape on me, thus everyone must love it, we shouldn't prosecute grown adults (women) who prey on young special needs children. "

[–]SuperWoodenSaddle 4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

So forcing a girl to let me suck her tits is not rape?

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

Correct. It would be some form of assault or maybe battery. Nevertheless, it's no more rape than sucking on her forearm.

What is wrong with you people? Do you not even understand the traditional and legal definition of rape?

"Penetration, no matter how slight, of the vagina or anus with any body part or object, or oral penetration by a sex organ of another person, without the consent of the victim"
