I made a promise to myself to approach people in general yesterday and I had some success making small talk. I also bought "The Rules to the Game" later on in the day, turns out I already completed day one's challenges.

I dropped into my Starbucks for a quick pick me up, and I decided when I was leaving that I would wear this ridiculous "Hacker" shirt I got for xmas a few years ago from Jinx. It makes me look like a tool around other hackers, so I've maybe worn it 4 or 5 times, but it always has been a great conversation starter with laymen/women. I recognize the male barista in there and he starts my order while the girl at the register helps people in front of me. HB7, brunette, cute as a button. Tell her what I ordered and immediately the shirt starts conversation "You are a hacker?!?!?!" "Shit, how did you know?!" The other girl working there walks over (cute, but wore way too much makeup) and gets in the convo. We talk about my shirt a little bit, explain what I do, being mysterious. She tells me how she likes to try and get things for free/at a discount and I go "Ahhh, we call that Social Engineering, most people don't get that right away and it takes years to master. Are you sure it's not just because you are a pretty girl?" giggling "No!!! I actually convince them!!" "Suuurre" :wink: (I love this because I got to neg her and compliment her at the same time, thoughts?) The other girl asks the blackhat/whitehat question, I tell them I'm a grayhat and explain the difference, banter on for a little bit. "Hey, listen, I have to get back to hacking international banks and stuff, can I get your number?" She hands me what I think is her number.

I go on my day, forgot about the number till much later. I was very busy all day, celebrated one my parent's birthday, hit on our waitress, got her blushing, my dad gave me the line "Chip off the old block ha ha" (Yeah ok dad..) Wasn't attracted to her, just made small talk and got her smiling. Get home, completely forgot about the number till today. I had to commit some code before I retired for the evening, finished that up and started "The Rules to the Game" that I bought while out with my parents. I laughed at the fact that I completed day one before even buying the book.

Day two, I need coffee. My roommates moved out last week and the one's GF packed all the coffee, toilet paper and paper towels leaving me nothing. My goal is just coffee. I get there and she is there, so I smile at myself. Order my coffee and she asks "So do you come to this Starbucks often?" and I relate my story. "Do you need coffee?!" she asks me excitedly, "I have... oh hang on, lemme take care of this guy" "Oh, it's perfectly alright, coffee shops are meant for conversation and you seemed to be enjoying it" - that guy (thanks old man!) she smiles and takes his order. When finished she pulls me to the side, "I have, like, 20 pounds of coffee at home from taking here and there and I don't drink it that often" in hushed tones. "What, are you trying to be my coffee dealer or something? Are you a cop?!" She has lols, I laugh at myself because I thought it was funny. "No but seriously, I have a lot that I don't use, I can sell it to you and.... I kind of gave you the wrong number yesterday because I was afraid of the hacker stuff" "Well, you're right to feel that way, us crazy hackers, always up to no good" giggles all over, she's really digging the conversation. "Let me get your number" "I dunno, you smell like a cop to me" "haha! I promise no cop!" she kind of does this full body laugh thing. I give her my number, since I already have my phone out on instinct, I hand it to her and tell her to punch her REAL number in. I send her a text saying "This is the code phrase: "THE EAGLE SOARS AT MIDNIGHT"" She likes this.

She brings me over to the coffee on the shelf and shows me the expiration date and points to it. "When Starbucks coffee expires, we sell it to retail stores and put new tags on it" I lean in close, brush my hand against hers and put my finger on the date while pretending to read it. "Aha! What a scam!" giggles more. We talk about smartphones for a little while, "Well, I have to get back to hacking those international banks, text me later so you can set me up for that coffee sting" She laughs and I extend my hand, shaking it all officially while pretending to look around paranoid. I finally retrieve my coffee from where the other baristas put it, they have knowing grins on their faces, "Thanks guys!" and as I'm turning she's giggling and talking to makeup girl from yesterday.

Like a boss.

tl;dr had an amusing exchange yesterday that lead to a fake number close, to an even more amusing exchange yesterday that ended with a real number close and a invitation to the girls house. edit: I had "chance to get to this girls house", but that sounded creepy as fuck.
