After watching a few videos explaining how to approach women in the street, I (31M) decided to give it a go. You should know I'm not a particularly good-looking guy and not all that experienced with women - although I'm taller than average, my other features are nothing to write home about. I've had a couple of girlfriends in the past but nothing really serious and had been 'out of action', so to speak, for a few years as I changed jobs and moved abroad, focusing on my career and education.

Thus I was surprised at how receptive women were to me. It may be related to the fact that people are craving human interaction after being deprived of it for so long during all these lockdowns. I'll admit that my first few approaches were quite awkward - although the women smiled at me and appreciated my compliments, I didn't get very far before they made their excuses and moved on. But it wasn't long (after 5 approaches, I think) before I got a really cute girl's number and set up a date. The chemistry wasn't there on the date but not to worry - I subsequently tried a few more approaches and about 2 months ago, I met my current girlfriend. I've honestly never had such a good connection with anyone and she has everything I'm looking for - joyful, cheerful, great sense of humour (and a real babe!). She appreciates what she calls the 'old-fashioned' way that I approached her - she also thinks how we met is a great story to tell (much more romantic than meeting on line)!

In total, I think I only approached 10 women before I found her. I don't know what the usual odds are in terms of how many women you need to approach before you come across a suitable match. (I'd be interested in hearing other people's experience on that.)

Just thought I'd share this in case anyone is despairing at your dating options and becoming frustrated with online dating. I tried online dating for a while but soon realised I was getting poor results for the time I invested in it, only getting a few dates with women whose profile pictures didn't exactly correspond with reality, and spending a lot of time messaging others in vain as they never seemed to want to meet up in person. So I highly recommend speaking to women in real life - even if nothing comes from your interaction, at least you're developing social skills and believe me, you're much likelier to meet high-quality women this way than you are online!
