How bad was your first approach?

The one girl turned to me and said: "If I could have any superpower, YOU would be invisible."

I walked away.

Mine was horrible. In fact, I think think about how stupid it was in hindsight. Note, I still suck at approaches :)

Many many many years ago there was a girl in one of my university classes that I kind of sort of liked. She wasn't that pretty really, she had nice boobs, meh face, short a bit chubby and she was indian. After about a few months of eyeing her in class I finally mustered up the courage to talk to her... well, it sort of went like this..

I was sitting a row over and a few seats back and at the end of class I was watching her pack up her junk and leave class to try to catch her going out to talk to her. My heart was racing like a rabid race horse with the anticipation of trying to talk to this average female. Not sure what happened but somehow I got caught up and I lost her...

Brilliant thinking on my feet got me racing to one of the student buildings as I know she used to always walk that way after class (I should be a private investigator) to catch up to her. So now my heart was beating like mad and I was sweating... I saw her up ahead walking and like a hawk I zero-ed in on my target. I went up to her from behind as she was walking and said 'hi' loudly. She turned a little to see who it was and I had a huge smile on my face trying to be positive.. I think she said hi but I can't remember because of all the shit going on inside my head and my body. Then I asked her "Do you wanna go catch a movie sometime?"... the look on her face was priceless. I also can't remember what her response was but it was of the negative persuasion. I just stood there and said "OK, see you around." with a smile.

It was so stupid it's not funny. Seeing her around campus and in class was unbelievably awkward after that.

Fast forward a few years.. when I came back to campus on a summer semester, I was living in a cluster house with 3 other guys on the bottom floor. It was a great summer and we used to always have epic parties in our cluster house.. but on the 3rd floor was this same chick I had failed miserably to ask out, and her cousin. I didn't actually run into her, but another girl that I was messing around with, also indian, actually knew those girls on the 3rd floor really well. The woman I was messing around with was smoking hot but kind of odd due to her religion. Anyhow she told me about the girl who I had tried to ask out and that girl was really super religious, really homely, not that friendly people she didn't know and she was also engaged to some dude from across the country (she was dating the dude when I had hit her up for the movie). But, at the time when I was interested in her, in my mind, because I had desired her.. she seemed much more desirable to me than she actually was.

Life sure is crazy sometimes.

My first approach wasn't too bad. I stopped her, told her she was cute, introduced myself and asked her name. The conversation was short maybe a minute, but a bit awkward, probably because I was nervous as hell. I wasn't slurring or stuttering (some symptoms of first approach) but I was talking really fast and sweating as hell (I could blame the sun, but at that moment no amount of heat could make me sweat like that).

I have had some hilarious approaches though. One, I went direct on her and it backfired entirely. When I asked her what she was up to, she said something along the lines of "going to meet my boyfriend, who would be VERY pissed off if I told him what you just did!"

Another one wasn't a blow out, but I messed up the opener entirely, I mixed things up. I opened the brunette, her friend was a blonde. "Hey, I just had to tell you, you are so cute!" Then I look at her friend and say "You are lovely too, it's just I have something for blondes!"

Good times!

6'2" Asian woman? Where the hell does that happen? I'm Asian and from Hawaii, here an 5'4" Asian girl is considered tall.

As for my first approach, it wasn't bad at all. I'd consider it a great success even though she turned out to be a flake. I didn't yet find seddit (actually found it later that week), but I was at the local e-cig cafe and there was a guy there chatting with the workers (they seem only to hire attractive women there). The guy was well dressed, spoke well and the girls were captivated by what he was saying, so I decided to stick around. The atmosphere he created was invigorating, I ended up getting to know everyone there. He explained that he was dating a model, he showed pictures, and claimed that once you date a model and know her friends, you only date models. He also claimed he knew almost everyone in Waikiki. I was about to call him on his bullshit but a girl walked in (which he obviously didn't know), he started making small talk where she revealed she was from Kauai. Almost instantly they found people that they both knew, within 10 minutes he got her number, after that I started to pay attention. After she left, within half an hour he got two of the female workers numbers. 3 numbers in less than an hour, with no rejection or hesitation. There was only one girl whose number he didn't ask for (I can only assume he knew I was interested in her). It was amazing, he gave me subtle prompts and cues and within 15 minutes, she and I were exchanging numbers. I can't remember the guy's name, but he was the best coach I ever had. At that point in my life I have not asked for a girl's number in over a year, I had self projection issues and feared rejection. After that I found seddit, read up a lot, and honestly would have taken it really hard when the girl ended up flaking but it didn't phase me. Other than that pushing me into who I am today, the most ironic/outrageous part of the story is that the girl whose number I got, her name is Pua.

I don't remember my first approach but I remember a really bad rejection at a club. My friend wanted to talk to this girl and was too shy to talk to her so I offered to talk to her for him. Went up to her and introduced myself. She looked me up and down and gave me this look of disgust. I actually was shaking as i was affected that bad. Didn't try to talk to anyone else that night. She wasn't even a girl I myself thought was attractive.

My very first approach was a 2-set on the beach at this tiny little lake. I went over to them, introduced myself, and sat down next to them. Now this was a huge mistake because as it turns out, neither of them spoke any English at all... Needless to say, newbie me very quickly found an awful excuse to leave. It sucked bro.

Not really an approach, but I just wrapped this affair to a close and I need to get it out there so I can digest it better. I got the number of one of the waitresses at a bar, but I squandered the opportunity and ended up not calling her for weeks as if her number were the only thing I was after. When I finally do, turns out she's married and I have her husband calling me all hours of the day asking who I am.

Maybe 4 or 5 years ago I was browsing a forum for openers when I came upon one I really liked. This was during the Christmas season and it said "are you going to be naughty or nice for Christmas." I liked it instantly, tried it out in target on an hb8, she walked away saying "that was awkward." Also, around the same time I approached a group at a bar...as I approached everyone scattered, I wasn't used to that and it killed my energy.
