It's not actually terrible for rates to be based on gender... and premiums to be just accordingly... IF that standard is applied everywhere else (pension, health insurance, whatever).

If health insurance premiums are equal, then car insurance should follow. BUT, feminists/women didn't like the fact that they paid more for health insurance, so they got it changed to be "equal for equality's sake". So now that the same logic... THAT THEY CHOSE... is applied everywhere else, they throw a shitfit.

It's hilarious how fucking stupid some of these people are.

Being a young man in the UK, I feel it hard for car insurance. For example I did an insurance quote on a Land Rover Freelander van for work, got quoted £2000, my friends girlfriend did it, she's 2 years younger than me (actually dead on the legal age to get a licence) and it was only £900. It's god damn shocking.

There wasa thing run on the news here in the UK, recently, wherein a girl was interviewed, saying "it's not faaaaair, they're forcing me off the roads with these costs!" completely unironically and with no self-awareness whatsoever.

My mother (a self-identified feminist, though not the neo-feminist type, just... a promoter of equality duped into believing thats what feminist means, i guess) snorted and pointed out the obvious hypocrisy before I could even open my mouth. I do like her sometimes.

It's not necessarily a groundless argument, though. All insurance premiums are based on what one may call "arbitrary" statistics considering that unless they know you personally then it's the only way to make a judgement call on what to charge in terms of risk.

Will they ban the age risk factor on account of it being discriminatory toward young people? Or will they stop charging extra for cars kept in high crime areas for fear of it becoming a class issue?

While I am fine with gender being a factor in how much car insurance companies charge. If we want to play the political correctness card and remove the equality for sake of equality, then why not say car insurance companies can't use gender as a method to figure out what to charge. No you can't charge one gender more than the other.

Tho I find it funny as hell Ms Yannakoudakis has an issue over this for the sole and only reason it will mean higher rates for women (ie it effects her) and that it won't give an advantage over men. Yet another female privilege, at least one woman doesn't want to let go. Oh wait my bad women have no privilege.

On one hand, it's rather stupid to make insurance rates "equal". On the other hand, I'm paying higher rates because people in the same demographic as me are more commonly reckless. It's not fair at all for me. Clean driving record, never an accident, driving an economy car, hobbyist mechanic, rarely if ever speed. It doesn't count for anything because I'm in my 20's and male.

The use of that device that allows them to track stats like acceleration, braking speeds, time of day you drive, etc should replace any sort of bracket-based pricing entirely. That's equality.

I'm all for calling out a double standard, but we should take a step back and realize this is not the "equality" we are looking for. Private companies have a right to make money the best way they can.

There is no advancement of mensrights by having everyone tip toe around gender issues as if the PC god will strike you dead. Let feminists be the ones to make a mockery of themselves.
