I have to admit that I became very suspicious that this was a staged provocation, when I saw that the class she was teaching was called Sex, Gender and Culture.

As others have said, the problem is not in breastfeeding a sick baby, but that there was no reason whatsoever that it should have been while in class.

Wait, so a feminist is saying it's repressive to deny the existence of a persons' body.

I guess that would be sort of like covering up a man in some generic suit so that he can go to work, all the while thinking his body is nothing to look at.

Maybe noticing someone's body isn't always bad, but healthy instead. Never heard a feminist say that to help men though...

I have mixed feelings on this yeah it really sucks for students and isn't very good for the baby but she was stuck between a rock and a hard place. Breast feeding in public is fine even if it seems off to me but doing it while you are lecturing and working? Seems a bit off. Personally if it was up to me and it was a once off thing it wouldn't be a big deal and I feel as long as it doesn't become a problem or a recurring thing it isn't a big deal. I personally question why she didn't have a sitter set up already though.

As a side note the professor does seem like a bit of a stuck up wanker after reading her side of the story and acts like a typical feminist. This isn't much of a mens rights issue either from what I can tell.

Please, people get so upset when there is a baby around, yes they cry a bit, but they are sort of important. Students are a little carried away with their own importance if they think they are too important to be distracted.

FFS...if you can't afford child care then don't have kids. People don't pay those high tuition fees to wait while their professor tends to their baby...they pay them so in-class time is used for learning and not so the professor can benefit from not having to pay for day care. People should not be allowed to bring their baby to work...stay home or get a baysitter/day care.
