Wow... $90k is absolutely ridiculous, she's already getting $23k/mo. I fail to see how the children NEED $23k/mo to survive and I seriously hope the judge doesn't award her the higher amount, I feel $5k to $7k/mo would be logical and is enough to survive in So Cal.

I'm not too sure how CA divorce law works, but due to the relatively short length of the marriage will he be paying this to her until his death or only for a few years?

If there was any logic in the system, the could would say no to $90K. Why does the 'child' need $90K every month? I barely spend $90 (still living at home) every month!

What a sad state of affairs we live in when the amount of child support some people are asking for a MONTH exceed my yearly income twice over.

Honestly, legitimate child support shouldn't go over $500/month. That's plenty to buy clothes and any supplies the child needs. Food, bills, etc? Yeah, you can pay for that on your own. Hell, I'd even argue $500/month is too much.

I'm starting to think that alimony/child support should somehow be linked to minimum wage. If someone needs to pay 90k a month in child support, then perhaps minimum wage should reflect the absurd cost to raise a child.

You know, as much as I've suggested solutions to the child support problem, at this point I think the whole thing should just be scrapped. Let the parents either work together to work out an equitable solution that splits the costs fairly, or else default to a state standard. "Oh, you're middle class? Okay child support is a flat $500 per kid." The whole thing would flip on it's head and stop being back-door alimony and suddenly divorce rates would plummet and mothers would stop jerking the kids' dads around and be more amicable because being nice would be the only way to get more money out of them.
