This is a touchy subject because for a lot of people circumcision is an integral part of their religion. It's backwards, barbaric and completely unnecessary but it's very difficult to change something when people refuse to see reason because of a few thousand year old book.

Ok now hang on a sec. I understand that some people have issues with the idea of circumcision. I also understand that some people have issues with abortion. While these two procedures are worlds apart, I don't agree with either of them being illegal.

On that note, I'm all for educating people on the pros and cons of any situation, and then let them make up their own minds.

My stance, and this debate, has been done to death here. Let me sum up:

Person 1: circumcision has medical benefits, and should be up to parents to decide if the risk and purported side-effects are worth the benefit

Person 2: it should be the child's choice, it's mutilation, we wouldn't let parents cut off a child's toe, or engage in female genital mutilation, all mutilation should be banned. Your so-called "studies" were ginned up by foreskin-hating bastards". Also, it's either just about religion, or it's just to stop kids from masturbating. And sex is less pleasurable

Person 1: Well, I can't really argue about the studies, suffice it to say that "peer-reviewed" usually means "not ginned up". The problem with leaving it up to the child is that it makes it less likely to get done. Kind of like how we don't leave it up to kids to get their inoculations. And, I've seen nothing to indicate that circumcision actually makes sex less pleasurable, just a lot of anecdotes.

Person 2: I'm not even going to keep talking about this with you. There are no medical benefits to circumcision, period, I don't care what the studies say (and/or I believe I know how to read statistical data better than the researchers from Johns Hopkins who say there's a significant relationship between circumcision and decreased rates of penile cancer).

That's just fucking wrong to make it against the law, I understand where they are coming from, but making a fucking religious thing against the law is just. As Penn and Teller would say. BULLSHIT!

im a lady wondering, why would you NOT want to get your penis circumsized? if you get it while a baby i mean..and ugh its gross if its not. I REALLY want to know what the male population thinks about circumcision..because i know ladies are for it.
