u/UltraMegawaffles posed this question to the subreddit today but the comments were locked before I had a chance to send my response. I was going to delete it but I figure he, and the rest of you, might want to read my thoughts on the matter. So here they are:

"Well if you're a black man living in a lower income community then you are more likely to be brutalized by the police than any other demographic, including black women. Much of the world will see you as a thug or a brute, which will severely hamper the opportunities available to you. Your physical attributes will be both fetishized and weaponized, and you may never learn to see yourself as a human being.

If you're a gay man then most of the world will see your sexual attraction as gross and perverse. You'll have to be cautious with being openly affectionate with your partner less you evoke disgust, and possibly physical confrontation, from people around you. Mainstream media will be reluctant to display the physical intimacy you share with other men even while it claims to champion your rights. If you're effeminate, much of the world won't see you as a man at all, and neither will they see you as a woman.

If you're a straight man then you will be socialized to believe that a woman's affection will complete you. Your sexual desires will be exploited by capitalists to convince you to buy products you don't need, yet are easy to grow dependent on. Society will tie your worth as a man to your success in dating, and many will try to use your fear of failure to manipulate you. You will be shamed for your attraction to women and you will be shamed if you don't attract them. You will be expected to protect women and cater to their needs, yet you will be shamed if you infantilize them. You will be encouraged to express your emotions, yet be shamed if you express bitterness or resentment for your experiences as a straight man.

If you're a trans man then your unique experiences will be largely unrepresented by most media. You will be about as susceptible to sexual assault as ciswomen are while experiencing about the same level of societal compassion that cismen receive as assault victims, which is relatively low. If you are heterosexual but don't pass as male, many will just view you as a butch lesbian. If you're homosexual and do pass as male then you'll suffer the same level of censure and disgust that gay cismen do. Your identity as a man will often be invalidated, and the communities who do perceive you as a man will often vilify and degrade your gender.

These are just a handful of examples; I can present many more."
