What do you guys think of modern dating

My first relationship lasted 7 years, and turned toxic then abusive. Took me 3 years to heal, and I'm still not fully there yet.

Not looking forward to start dating as essentially a 28 yo who's never really dated before. Online discussion isn't particularly encouraging.

It's more cold than people admit it is, and it may result in some men issues like loneliness which can end in tragedies.

I personally don't care a lot about dating, I've always prefered friendship, with both women and men, and sometimes I think some men put too much relevance on dating, to the point of feeling alone while having really good guys as friends, but I think I can understand that position.

Online? Hookup culture blows, you run the risk of getting #metoo'd if she regrets hooking up in the morning, you have to pay for at least one dinner to figure out if she's a Karen or not, and finding a woman that doesn't have a kid or crippling debt is almost impossible.

IRL? If you're super lucky you can find a friend that will vouch for her being worth it and introduce you. If you aren't lucky you have to go to a bar and hope like hell she doesn't pump you for drinks and give you a fake number or "I HAVE A BOYFRIEND." you.

Shit sucks, but it's worth it for the good women who are out there.

Its a pain in the ass. With the pandemic online dating is the only game in town and its rough--unless you're one of the best looking guys on there its hard to get matches, and just about all women get so many guys they don't even bother being polite. They'll drop or flake on you without much notice. Some are just on there to troll.

If you mean the dating apps and the like, then in my experience, they work well for a mere minority of people.

Eh, it’s harder than it used to be but still possible. I’m in that awkward almost-dating-but-not-quite stage with an incredible woman, and she’s a truly amazing person who I have no issue trusting.

However, I avoid online dating like the plague and I’d recommend most people do the same.

Dating comes with a great deal of loneliness and frustration for me, but I think I have it better than most men. If you cast a wide net and reserve your emotional energy for people who show they give half a shit about you, I find that makes the whole thing worthwhile. I don't know what random hot strangers like hearing, but if I say shit that amuses myself then at least someone is having fun :)

What exactly is the question? Is it about internet dating, other formal ways of dating (which I think are more an American than a European thing) or any appointment with a woman with (possible) romantic intentions?
