I hope more governments would be brave enough to make this sort of documents.

im curious, what was the process of making this happening?

Edit: this is what I have been expecting from my local politicians, a male first perspective on life. I really don’t think it will happen here because the feminist steamroller is so powerful, but maybe in 5-10 years things start moving here in Northern Europe too. Sadly I think things needs to get so much worse for boys before people start caring.

"In terms of barriers to change, Professor Murphy believes we have a real issue in British society of the denigration of masculinity. She stated that we have allowed the notion of “toxic masculinity” to take root. She does not question the notion that society is largely patriarchal or that we have a problem with sexism, however when you front load the noun “masculinity” with a term like “toxic”, what implicit message does this drip feed to boys? We know that self-esteem has a big role to play in mental health, so how is this slow drip-feed of discourse about toxic masculinity helpful for boys?

She further stated that society tends to suppress stories about women as dangerous and over-emphasise the stories about men as bad and dangerous. However, a third of domestic abuse victims are male and yet the overwhelming majority of hostels for domestic abuse survivors are for women only. Young boys live in these hostels which are staffed by women only; what message does that give to these boys? Men are too dangerous to have any contact with?

Professor Murphy also believes there is a real problem with the lack of positive male role models. It's important that men are supported to maintain a relationship with their children and that we find ways to provide boys with a range of male role models."

I'm surprised and delighted that a government report has included this.

The conservatives seem to have noticed the neglect of boys by the left and it seems they are planning to make gains on this.

To those in the UK, has this received any attention in the media? Hopefully this group can persevere with this work until there is.

I couldn't find anything objectionable in the report. I think it majors on the issues and concerns that are most likely to get traction with the public and policy makers.

The second statistic is unimpressive. And at the same time it doesnt convince me. I think we need to dig deeper.

The only thing I missed in this document was a “roads to fatherhood” discussion with poorer and uneducated men. However I understand it would be too controversial and would trigger too many reactions which would be counterproductive.

Men make up 96% of the prison population

We need to talk about this. It's about inequality in every step of criminal justice. Men are more likely to be SUSPECTED of a crime than women. Men are more likely to be arrested and charged and less likely to be given a pass by police. Men are more likely to be CONVICTED of the same crime as a woman. More likely to get longer prison sentences for the same conviction. That 93% is the result of multiple overlapping factors.
