Later, Mr Bayfield sent an email to a boss saying: ‘I found out recently JWT did a talk off site where it vowed to obliterate white, middle-class straight people from its creative department. There are a lot of very worried people down here.’

Looks like their concerns were warranted.

It’s understood the advertising firm plans to appeal the decision.

This is a statement from the company. There was a word that I have never heard before so I went to the company website to look i t up.

The company was embarrassed by their "gender pay gap", presumably because the high paying positions were mostly filled by men, and the lowest paying positions filled by women.

They COULD have addressed it by paying the lower positions more. But that costs money. Another way to address it is to fire highly paid men and hire women into those positions...this is what they chose to do. Because it costs net zero.

These men were literally fired because of their gender, to solve an imaginary problem.

The gender pay gap they're referencing is the gap between a high paying role and a low one? Because OBVIOUSLY there's a gap.

The sad part is whenever I hear companies talk about being inclusive, it's inclusive to everyone...unless you're a cishet white male. If you are one of those, your opinions and feelings are invalid for the sake of equity. I can only speak from a US point of view but the labor laws, when it comes to discrimination, seem to be similar.

And this is why companies should hire talented women who has common interest of uplifting the company's growth, not just any woman who has destructive agenda. Hiring such women also undermine the talent and hard work of those women who were hired based on their merit.

Imagine how shitty it would feel to skilled women if they see incoming flood of women who are no where near to their skills but are being paid in the same salary band.

She herself is white but she quietly absorbed herself from the accountability as if being white doesn't apply on her.

At least there may some progress.

But still, this company hired a woman to adress sexism.... and she got rid of the straight white men.
