Why do I get the feeling that lesbians view hetero relationships as a threat to their well-being?

[–]plainwalk 41 points42 points43 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

They do; political lesbianism is a thing, there is a... teaching? school of thought? that any sex involving a penis is inherently violent and should be treated as assault, and that gay men are the epitomy of misogyny.

[–]frustr8tion 22 points23 points24 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

r/actuallesbians absolutely rejects any of that bullshit, you may be pleased to hear.

[–]plainwalk 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Good. I've worked with an absolutely wonderful lesbian -- one of those people who has a great sense of humour -- and lived next to lesbians who loved me and my (male) roommate until they found out he was straight. They'd run inside and shut the blinds whenever he was outside thereafter.

[–]EricAllonde 108 points109 points110 points 4 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

Bindel is a lesbian who is infamous for her hatred of men.

She once wrote an article arguing for all men to be locked up in concentration camps, then backtracked and said she was only joking. But the article was very much in character with her typical comments, so few people were moved to give her the benefit of the doubt.

She has also complained that there aren’t more women who choose to be lesbians, given how awful men are in her view. That’s a comment guaranteed to make her unpopular among men, lesbians and a fair number of straight women too.

She seems to think women are incapable of committing crimes and thus every woman in prison is wrongly convicted. She once wrote about a woman convicted of making false rape accusations and declared that she could tell she was innocent just by looking at her. Maybe she thought the woman was hot?

There is no better embodiment of everything horrifying and awful about feminism than Julie Bindel.

[–]Panderjit_SinghVV 18 points19 points20 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Is she the one that drove her own son to suicide with her sexist hate and still mocked male suicide? I know it was one of the powerful UK feminists.

[–]frustr8tion 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I wanna know about this.

[–]DevilishRogue 11 points12 points13 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That was Julie Burchill, not Julie Bindel:

[–]VeteranOfDepression 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No, but I really hope she doesn't have a son, adopted or not.

[–]tenchineuro 19 points20 points21 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She once wrote an article arguing for all men to be locked up in concentration camps, then backtracked and said she was only joking.

You mean this?

  • U.K. Radical Lesbian Feminist Wants All Men in Concentration Camps
  • “I would actually put them in some sort of camp where they can all drive around in quad bikes, or bicycles, or white vans,” said radical feminist Julie Bindel, in an interview with RadFem Collective. “I would give them a choice of vehicles to drive around with, give them no porn, they wouldn’t be able to fight—we would have wardens, of course.” If you think she’s talking about captured members of ISIS, you’d be wrong. Bindel is referring to men. But if you’re a woman, don’t worry, you’ll still be able to see them sometimes. “Women who want to be able to see their sons or male loved ones would be able to visit or take them out and bring them back again, like a library book,” she explained.

I've not seen where she said she was joking.

Oddly enough, there was another feminist in an old forum that said the exact same thing, except she said that the men could party all the time there as an inducement. She also mentioned checking men out like library books. This idea in this form predates Bindel by at least 10 years.

The article continues and also mentions Bindel's claims of being de-platformed.

  • The irony is that Bindel and RadFem Collective are on a crusade about radical feminists being “no platformed” at various U.K. colleges. She wrote: “The campus craze of banning outspoken women from university events and debates across the country is such a gift to the misogynistic ‘men’s rights’ movement, that if I were a conspiracy theorist I would be insisting this is a global plot to end women’s liberation.” It’s a global plot because some U.K. educational institutions don’t want to give a platform to radical lesbian feminists like Bindel who advocate mass incarceration for possession of a Y chromosome? I’m thinking she is a conspiracy theorist, not to mention lunatic.

Well, I wish the MRM could take credit for this, but it can't.

[–]Acrobatic_Sport_7664 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Fuck, she writes for the Guardian. Any surprise the woman's a delusional hate monger?

[–]tenchineuro 13 points14 points15 points 4 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I rather suspect that if any women have protested her, it's because she is a TERF, not because she hates men or because she's a feminist.

The article has a nice list of the ways feminism have broken the rule of law where where women are involved and rather successfully criminalized being a man.

Someone should point out that the woman who actually created domestic violence shelters, Erin Pizzey, loathes feminists. And would take serious umbrage at a feminist taking credit for her work.

[–]MrElderwood 18 points19 points20 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And for good reason, they had her expunged from the very shelter she created!

[–]Rubberrobbb 33 points34 points35 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

If it's men feeding feminism to women, wouldn't that be patriarchal? And therefore advocacy against feminism is pro-female.

[–]Iceman_Hottie 29 points30 points31 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

There are many accounts of women leaving feminism and becoming happier, significantly improving their lives and relationships, and improving their mental health. So, yeah, being pro-female means being anti-feminism.

On the other hand supporting MRM is also pro-female, since in a healthy relationship a man will naturally strive to make the woman that cares for an values him as happy as he can. This leads to a positive self-re-enforcing loop between the two, leading to happyness for both.

[–]ILoveBigBoobsYesIDo 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Sounds so simple isn't it. Wish more women are opening their eyes and see that feMIniSm is their own destruction

[–]Iceman_Hottie 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Understanding a profound truth requires effort and delaying gratification. It is much easier to fall for a comforting lie, that's seems pleasurable in the short term but over time leads to ruin.

[–]red_philosopher 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

This is so true. At least in healthy relationships without significant mental illness.

[–]Iceman_Hottie 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes. Although most mental health issues can be navigated successfully given proper behaviour, attitude and support.

I'm not from the US so I don't know very much the main newspapers... What's the issue with these websites?

[–]Mycroft033 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

From the US and I have the same question

[–]MrElderwood 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago* (11 children) | Copy Link

Brit here.

The main issue with The Daily Mail is that is it arguably (although easily) the most right wing newspaper in the UK. It's basically, on most issues, an outrage machine with a certain penchant for Immigration and Nationalist thinking. They'd like to claim Patriotic I'm sure, but no, they are Nationalists!

Fromm the Wikipedia page (linked above) - "It has also been noted for its unreliability and widely criticised for its printing of sensationalist and inaccurate scare stories of science and medical research, and for instances of plagiarism and copyright infringement."

They also feature the anecdotally titled 'Sidebar of Shame' on their website, which is full of yet more sensationalism and, most disturbingly, the habitual sexualisation of underage children, anything from child actors (EG Emma Watson, who they'd been sexualising since the age of 14) to the children of celebs.

TL/DR - They're pretty scummy most of the time!

However, it also seems to be about the only one that reports on any Mens rights type issue.

I think that's why it's so easy to argue, here in the UK, that MRA are automatically RW by definition and therefore worthy of nothing but scorn by the rest of society, and especially the feminist voices, which have become highly vocal and effective over the years.

Hope that helps!

Edit: To all those downvoting, check my follow up post nested below this.
If you are still downvoting after that I can only assume that you, yourself, are Right Wing too because what I have written is not conjecture, it's fact!

They definitely aren't right wing. They just haven't gone completely off the lefty deep end like most mainstream media outlets.

Every mainstream media site should be archived because they're all trying to destroy western culture to varying degrees.

[–]MrElderwood 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

Sorry, are you trying to say that The Daily Mail is Left Wing?

Or am I misunderstanding you?

Edit : for further comment and links below.

To infer that the Daily Mail (DM) is not right wing - if that is indeed what was being inferred - is frankly misleading in the extreme. Speaking of extreme...

The DM is not only Right Wing now, it always has been. In fact it publicly and strongly supported the Nazis, in Britain, in the run up to World War 2! They also demonised Jews, in both text and cartoon form, and supported the 'Blackshirts' - AKA British Union of Fascists.

https://www.timesofisrael.com/how-britains-nazi-loving-press-baron-made-the-case-for-hitler/

YouGov is a polling firm, with an apparently global reach according to their blurb. What you may not know is that it was co-founded by Nadhim Zahawi, a man with such strong Conservative leanings, he soon went on to become a Tory MP. In fact, he is currently the UK's Secretary of State for Education in Boris Johnsons Tory Govts Cabinet. So I think that if YouGov say that the DM is RW (and they do!) then we can take that to the bank!

https://yougov.co.uk/topics/politics/articles-reports/2017/03/07/how-left-or-right-wing-are-uks-newspapers

A direct quote from that page:"In news that will surprise very few, the Daily Mail is seen as Britain’s most right-wing newspaper. Britain’s most read newspaper is described by 44% of Brits as “very right-wing”, far ahead of any other paper. In total, 81% considered the paper to be right-wing to one degree or another."

Allsides.com, which appears to be a 'politically neutral' site that provide info on news bias (among other things), also rates the DM as Right Wing. Not 'Lean Right', simply 'Right'.

https://www.allsides.com/news-source/daily-mail

So, for the assistance of our Non-British brothers (and sisters) understanding... If anyone claims that The Daily Mail is not Right Wing I, frankly, would take everything they have to say with a large pinch of salt!

[–]AppleJuicePro 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

In fact it publicly and strongly supported the Nazis, in Britain, in the run up to World War 2!

Yes, in the 1930s! But so did the SNP, who are now considered left-wing.

I also fail to see the problem with being right wing in the 1st place. It may have escaped your notice but the right wing DM allowed Bindel (who I strongly dislike btw) to express herself.

[–]EricAllonde -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I can only assume that you, yourself, are Right Wing

I will take that as a compliment, because being Right Wing is awesome!

The Right is for liberty and freedom, including your right to choose your career and employer, choose how to spend or invest your own money, your right to start and own a business, your right to increase your earnings if you wish by working harder, acquiring additional skills or pursuing opportunities.

It was the Right which ended slavery in the USA and defeated communism. It is only the Right which stands up for your freedom of speech today, when feminists are doing their best to silence all MRAs.

You're welcome.

[–]MrElderwood 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Woah, calm down there bucko!

This is not a political sub, and claiming that only the right enable those things is laughable.

But then so is claiming to be RW after me pointing out that the RW paper in question supported Nazism!

[–]EricAllonde -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

This is not a political sub

You're the one who introduced politics, and dishonestly too.

claiming that only the right enable those things is laughable.

I stated facts.

me pointing out that the RW paper in question supported Nazism!

You're doing that stupid thing that SJWs, feminists and Leftists often do of using "right wing" as a synonym for "anything I don't like".

Unfortunately for you, words have defined meanings (see: dictionaries). "Right wing" means a particular political position with regards to economic freedom, personal liberty and self-reliance.

An honest person would just say, "trashy tabloid newspaper".

[–]MrElderwood 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

You're the one who introduced politics, and dishonestly too.

Nope, I was answering a direct question about the Daily Mail. And in good faith might add!

I stated facts.

Nope, you stated rhetoric, at best.

You're doing that stupid thing that SJWs, feminists and Leftists oftendo of using "right wing" as a synonym for "anything I don't like".

Are you claiming that Nazism was not Right Wing?! Then there's nothing further I can do for you! And being argumentative and throwing slurs around will not get you far in this sub.

Unfortunately for you, words have defined meanings (see: dictionaries)."Right wing" means a particular political position with regards toeconomic freedom, personal liberty and self-reliance.

I provided links that support my points. My own views are irrelevant, I'm simply providing info from legit sources. And that has nothing to do with dis/honesty.

An honest person would just say, "trashy tabloid newspaper".

Aaaand another ad hominem attack. You know that once you attack the person and not their point you've lost, right? And it's not a 'tabloid', it's a broadsheet.

You also need to realise that the lines do not exactly draw up equally in the definitions of 'Right Wing' on both sides of the Atlantic, and I was plainly speaking about a UK paper from my position as a Brit.

Anyway, say what you want, but I will not be engaging with you and feeding the troll any further.

[–]EricAllonde -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Are you claiming that Nazism was not Right Wing?!

Again: words have specific meanings, including "Nazism". That's what dictionaries are for. You can't just redefine words to support your political biases and expect anyone else to participate.

Nazism as an ideology was closer to both fascism and leftwing authoritarianism than it is to people on the political right.

If you want to make your smear stick, you'd have to start by demonstrating how the Nazis were committed to free markets, free speech and personal liberty.

Again: it was Republicans who ended slavery in the US, over Democrat opposition, and even fought a war to achieve it. Democrats wrote the Jim Crow laws, which Republicans repealed. Republicans passed the reforms of the civil rights era, again over Democrat opposition. Notice the pattern there.

Aaaand another ad hominem attack. You know that once you attack the person and not their point you've lost, right?

You started the whole thing with a childish attempt to smear half the population for their political beliefs. There's no point crying just because I called you out for that.

Because they understand that feminism is state sponsored terrorism and that it is fronted by, and only benefits, entitled, pampered white women like Julie Bindel.

[–]g1455ofwater 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So she disagrees with other women and comes to the sole feminist conclusion on these issues...It's men's fault.

[–]red_philosopher 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She's an imbecile of the highest caliber. She's frustrated by the fact that people are forcing her opinion out of the conversation. As it should be, her positions are poisonous and mired in hatred. Male on female violence isn't epidemic, and the rape statistics she quoted are incredibly disingenuous.

In the UK, presumably where these numbers are quoted, women have been withdrawing their testimony in record numbers. It was nearly 60% of women refusing to testify in the year 2020.

That doesn't even begin to cover the rates of false allegations. The FBI says about 8% are unfounded, which means they are demonstrably false, and that number matches the number in Bavaria, and in other places, where that number was shown ONLY BECAUSE THEY ADMITTED TO LYING. Studies related to the authenticity of such reports puts the rates of false accusations close to 30%.

Given both those numbers, and the 125k or so accusations, 60% withdrew, for one reason or another, and 30% were likely to be false. If 8% admitted it, and that leaves 22%, being false- and say 60% probably withdrew, leaving about 10% that didn't. Making a grand total of about 78% of reports that were completely and utterly non-prosecutable.

Female on male violence is exceptionally high, and has incredibly low reporting rates. 70% of DV with a single instigator in heteronormative relationships is committed by women. That's quite a lot.

That's a 7:3 ratio, and the numbers extend into homosexual relationships, finding that gay men have the lowest rates of DV, and lesbian relationships having the highest rates of DV.

The proof is there.

She's a misandrist that doubles as a misogynist. She just hates people.

Like woman have been treated for 100s of years.

Men also had rigid roles which, on the whole, required taking the brunt of hardship for women.

It's not about having more power then men it's about getting treated fairly and equal to a man.

It comes from an entirely distorted view of how things are though. Like your comment about how women "have been treated" while ignoring the burdens shouldered by men. Feminists demand, for example, equal pay, without taking on equal work.

[–]EricAllonde 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

while ignoring the burdens shouldered by men. Feminists demand, for example, equal pay, without taking on equal work.

Feminism indoctrinates its members to view the world in an incredibly solipsistic way. Committed feminists are completely unable to empathise with anyone outside of their in-group (middle class, feminist women in western countries), hence the reason why they wave things like this away.

As a result they focus on petty issues while handwaving away as unimportant far bigger problems that don't personally affect them:

"Male suicide epidemic? Who cares about that? The real issue here is that I have to pay $0.50 tax per month on my tampons. That's an outrage! They should be tax exempt. Fucking patriarchy screwing women over, yet again!"

[–]Punder_man 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Exactly! They cry on and on about wanting to earn the same as what men earn.. but don't want to put in the same effort / hours for it.

In what universe is it fair for a woman to work 30 hours a week and get paid what a man working 40+ hours a week earns?
The answer is.. none.. because in that situation women are wanting the carrot: Earning what men earn, without the stick of having to work the same hours..

Or in other words.. they want to have their cake, and eat it too.
