I matched with a man from an online dating site and we have had a couple of nice messages and he sounded interesting so we had a very brief video call chat to vet him. Again he seemed great. He invited me to dinner at a new restaurant in town on Thursday evening. All seemed good.

But today I reread his profile and he has changed his “looking for” section from “something long term” to “something casual or something long term”. I think that’s a weird thing to change so I messaged him to ask why. He said this: So I put both long term and casual as I was hoping to go on dates with someone and just see what develops, hopefully a long term relationship but just to let things develop however they do.

Now apart from being offended by his lack of punctuation, I’m quite put off by this. I think he might be saying he isn’t really interested in a relationship. Is that how you’d understand it? I think I will cancel the date.
