Please do not post anywhere. I’ve (26F) been following FDS since January and I think it helped this reforming pickme to dodge a big bullet. I met a guy on Hinge in June and we quickly hit it off. First date was a few weeks in, and he never touched his phone and was an amazing conversationalist. He picked up the tab and would only let me pay for things if I truly made a fuss. He handled my anxiety and PTSD like a champ. Great job and family minded, I thought I found an amazing dude. Until, the red flags started appearing everywhere. 🚩 1. He told me at 27, I was his first “major relationship”. 🚩 2. Told me his father had passed and refused to speak about it, my mom is deceased so I thought next to nothing of it. Later I found out he was shot to death by a state agency. 🚩 3. We were drinking one night and he asked when I lost my virginity. I said 19, and he replied “oh good, I was late too”. I asked what that meant and he said he was 25. Not the norm, but okay. The bomb was “it was unconventional, like I paid for it, but she really liked it” UHM WHAT?! I asked how he knew she hasn’t been explored and he freaked out and said i was shaming him. After this I spoke with my therapist and she convinced me to give him another shot. 🚩 4. He asked me to move in with him 6 months in, and then I find out he bought a house at the top of his price range, expecting me to come move in. 5. The same day as the virginity thing, he mentioned tatooos were ugly on women and that he needs “veto approval” of what I would get.

So, I broke up with him. He twisted my words and made me feel terrible. He’s telling everyone that I’m insane and am “probably off my meds”. My best friend said I look happy again though. That’s all. I didn’t end it soon enough, but this page helped me recognize that I didn’t have to stay just because he was “nice and never hit me” that was my rationale. My standards were stellar, “don’t hit me and call before bedtime lol”. I feel so stupid. Here’s to singlehood.
