As someone who was in a relationship with a sociopath and also watches a lot of true crime, the most sociopathic of men are the ones who are really good at hiding who they truly are. That means they will pretend really hard for a really long time that they are in love with their partner. A guy who doesn’t care as much about keeping his mask on will start treating her like shit a lot sooner. You know men are fucked when the most evil ones treat their woman better than rest of them will 🤣

This show is so spot on.
He goes off about how dating apps are “anti feminist” and he would go on a horse to whisk women away.
He thinks he’s a romantic and calls himself a feminist.
Basic decency; isn’t a porn wanker (to my knowledge… he gets off to his own power fantasizes,) and cooks and does laundry. These do not make you a good man!
I like how he calls other men stalkers 🙄😂that’s seriously how men think “it’s not me, it’s THOSE men, I’m a nice guy!
This show scares me as someone who has fallen for charming love bombing narcissists before.
“Too good to be true” is a red flag. If you’re feeling euphoric constantly in the early stages, look out for that. Took me till 29 to realize that being in love and being happy are not a constant state of of intense euphoria.
He specifically targets women who are insecure and vulnerable. Work on your core beliefs and core wounds and what they are because they do fuel why we ignore red flags.

I think it’s his intelligence and empathy. As a psychopath he is able to compartmentalize his own behavior to a truly extreme degree. One of those compartments contains a fake character who displays extreme and seemingly endless empathy for women, possibly more empathy than any other character on the entire show. He studies each woman he meets and gives her his complete attention at all times. It has to be pretty damn flattering. They become hypnotized. At the same time, he is able to recognize truly shitty men and can use their personalities to his advantage by pointing out that behavior and emulating the exact opposite whenever he’s around a particular woman who has been with guy(s) he recognizes as shitty.
Usually there’s a LVM (sometimes a woman) s.o./spouse/ex hanging around Joe’s current crush and (well, until he kills them) Joe will make mental notes of all the things the “bad guy” does and then show his crush the complete opposite of that person. They think they’ve finally met someone who just “gets” them in a way no one else has. Like a dream come true! That’s just one part of him. The mask never even slips, it just switches over, because that’s just him— two polar opposites, an amazing HV guy and a horrifying, evil, psychopathic guy, there’s no typical LVM/narcissist/sociopath in between.
Psychopaths are far better at winning people over than the more commonly antisocial folks bc their personality traits make other people feel really good about themselves. They’re able lead double lives and get amazing jobs and plenty of romance because of the people they win over. They give themselves entirely over to the other person because they have no bigger priority than controlling them.
Controlling people and taking care of those people (or, conversely, hurting or killing them) gives psychopaths a sense of self-worth that they wouldn’t get otherwise. They are usually very smart and often end up being fantastic rulers and politicians. Who wouldn’t want a guy like Joe who is so cute and attentive and well-dressed and kind and caring and funny? I guess, that would be someone who knows the real Joe, the one with a cage in his basement :( or the viewer who gets the narration of his thought process kept a secret from women everywhere :(

Take out the narration (his secret thoughts and actions) and he says all the right things and even comes off as an introverted nice guy.

Imagine a cut of You without the voice over narration. The actor actually acts so shy and sweet in his scenes like he outwardly appears like an introverted nice guy who doesn't talk much. I feel like the subtlety of his acting is a bit lost since there's constantly the super violent stream of thoughts as a voice over. Is this what the quiet guys are thinking?

Joe is so interesting to watch. I’m observing so much. He is afraid of abandonment and has a HUGE fear of not being accepted once people find out what a monster he is. On the flip side, he is SO QUICK to abandon someone once they show their “true colors”. The ironic thing is even with Love, the only (alive) woman who actually knows the truth about Joes murders/craziness, he still is not loyal or devoted to her. His mommy issues run deep. It is a fictional show, but I do believe the behavior patterns are based upon real behaviors. Men are only loyal if they have the capacity to be. It has nothing to do with a woman’s loyalty, what she does for him, or anything else. If you know you are HV or working to be, you are not the problem. Any signs of LV, cut em off!
