Sounds like you are already in the process. Do you have a status quo order? You should...all debt she racks up will be her own.

Yep, this happens. It's a tactic spouses use to screw the other. My ex racked up $30k in credit card debt in just a few months.

I have one of those, but she’s using MY card. And my lawyer says well she used your card before the process so keep paying it off.

I lowered the maximum limit to a few grand so sometimes it freezes her out and she rages and I pay it down a couple hundred bucks. It’s like death by a thousand cuts now.

I canceled everything jointly in our name as soon as I caught her doing this. It still cost me a lot of money though.

During the divorce, if she ever got uncooperative, I reminded her that her vehicle was in my name too. It would have been unfortunate if it had gone... missing. I wouldn't give her the spare keys until she signed our divorce papers.

Hopefully you have some leverage you can "remind" your ex about.

If she's doing this after the date of separation it'll be her debt.

Make sure your date of separation if not already set gets set to BEFORE she started running up the debt.

If you've served her with papers already (please tell me you already served her) then you put in there that "all debts accumulated after date of service are the sole responsibility of the one who accumulated the debt." If so, she's only screwing herself.

If not . . . shut off the card. Claim fraud.
