I complain. A lot. I’ve had people all my life tell me I complain too much.

I complainless than I used to. But I know it irritates my husband.

Here’s my problem… I have no idea the difference between complaining and just regular conversation. I also tend to jokingly complain which gets laughs from people who don’t know me (my clients for example), but not from my husband who thinks I’m really complaining.

So for an example. I’ve been sick for the last month with various ailments that aren’t serious but annoying. In an attempt to not complain, my husband was unaware of me being sick until I finally had enough and went to the doctor for the sinus infection. But I was fairly tired and would take a nap daily. He was saying that I was taking too many naps lately and what’s wrong with me. I said, “I’ve been sick all month and I needed rest.” At this he was a bit more understanding.

But I have no idea how to tell someone I’m sick without that sounding like a complaint I guess. Or having a long day at work or whatever other things I might talk about.

I’ve been trying to challenge myself to not complain for the rest of the year. But since apparently I’m clueless as to what complaining vs not complaining is (and now I’ve typed the word too many times lol) I don’t even know where to start.
