"Men suppress their emotions"."Study asking about emotions finds women and children more affected."

[–]Malkor 28 points29 points30 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Suppressing my emotions makes me more resilient (at least for now!) Knowing that I kinda-sorta default towards suppressing my emotions is helpful.

I happen to be in the age range not asked though, so I guess how I feel doesn't matter. /s

I've managed not to sing this out loud when being told of my other half's stress levels. The youngin's are too young to care and glad we're always around! It'll be weird unwinding this all.

I keep noticing how the same society that pushes for safe spaces and banning every bit of speech that offends anybody* ever, is also pushing for emotional resilience.

* not you, straight, white, Christian, American males

[–]AngelPhoenix77 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I thought, while women say they want to see men have emotions. Yet when they see it. They say men are weak and men need to "man up."

[–]MrRWallace 40 points41 points42 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

everyone is pretty much affected, the pandemic is something we all dont want in our lives

[–]AbysmalDescent 41 points42 points43 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

If this was the other way around, the article would be boasting about how women are so much better at adapting and operating effectively compared to men, with a snide commentary about how dumb or ineffectual men are.

[–]xsplizzle 12 points13 points14 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Thats generally the way it works yup

[–]darksedan 111 points112 points113 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ah yes the effortless misandry of the guardian

[–]kaeioo 113 points114 points115 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Women score higher in Neuroticism (1) in comparison to men. It measures how easy/prone someone is to have negative toughs. The fact women are more stressed then men is a default mode. Women feel more stressed, yes. This doesn't means that women have it worse.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neuroticism

[–]WikiSummarizerBot 26 points27 points28 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Neuroticism

In the study of psychology, neuroticism has been considered a fundamental personality trait. For example, in the Big Five approach to personality trait theory, individuals with high scores for neuroticism are more likely than average to be moody and to experience such feelings as anxiety, worry, fear, anger, frustration, envy, jealousy, guilt, depressed mood, and loneliness. Such people are thought to respond worse to stressors and are more likely to interpret ordinary situations, such as minor frustrations, as appearing hopelessly difficult.

[–]CanniBal1320 12 points13 points14 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

So r they trying to say women r weaker than men? If yes then it goes against the Feminism Law of 'Women are equal to men' and 'Men are trash'.

Jokes aside like seriously bro pandemic has affected everyone, irrespective of their gender. Lets just focus on making any improvement on the current state of the world. Why fight and break apart and when we can be peaceful and co-exist for all of us to get benefitted?

[–]shortman162cm 64 points65 points66 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

for them men doesn't exist

[–][deleted] 44 points45 points46 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

exist as dispensable.. do all the crappy work of society and also take all the blame

[–]anonymouslionn 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The doormats. The emotional tampons. The scapegoats. The tools, of society. The last one sounds a little more positive. Pretty useful haha. But that’s all we exist for, for uses and to be used.

[+]SmsgPass -22 points-21 points-20 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

They literally display charts that show percentages of men as well as women.

[–]shortman162cm 24 points25 points26 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

still to them men doesn't exist they don't talk about their mental health

[–]IdentifiesAsAnOnion 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's mostly 40-60 distribution, but the way the title is written is saying that the 60% of people can only feel pain

[–]vhisic 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

"women were also consistently more likely than men to report a negative impact from crisis."

Men dont complain therefore are not as affected.

Nah we just dont complain because no one cares and there is no point.

man i fucking hate that "newspaper" since they publish all this bullshit and never allow comments because they know they will be called out for the massive amounts of misandrist bullshit they treat as real journalism*

*if such a thing as real journalism exists

[–]sneedchuckfuck 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What would it look like if you opened a trashy article like this and found people in the comment section roasting the author? All of a sudden, you wouldn't feel alone. You would feel glad that there's other people out there agreeing with you too, and that you don't have to go to a specific corner of the internet to find like-minded opinions. That's extremely moralising and empowering. Now that the comment sections got removed, what do you get? Some establishment hack spouting off the same bullshit narratives and lying through repetition with no one to counter it in the comments. Compound that effect over time and you start to get worn out from viewing nonsense article after nonsense article with no backlash to them. It's called psychological operation pal, and we're living in the biggest one of all time.

[–]throwaway3569387340 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Haven't we had enough of the victim hierarchy yet?

[–]Jimmy5772 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This post literaly made me chuckle πŸ˜….

Of course they are the worst affected πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ.

Us men dont have feelings everyone knows that

[–]skellious 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think people in general are most affected.

[–]stereoroid 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The article makes an unjustified leap, from "more young people say they were affected" to "more young people were affected", then does the same for men vs. women. Thinking you have problems is not the same as actually having problems.

[–]cricey 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

bro the day this stops happening im going to be so fucking happy

[–]Eidalan 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Fuck this.

[–]MrE-O 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Of course... It's always the same!

[–]Alarming_Draw 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That shitbag even wrote a piece recently that said global warming was due not just to men....but due to 'sexist men'....

Not sure whether to laugh or cry at how absurd feminist sexist man haters have become now...

[–]his_purple_majesty 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

gender socially conditioned to not complain surprisingly fine with their current circumstances

[–]newyorkloser45 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Modern "Journalism" is pure trash

[–]DaveThe_blank_ 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

god I miss Rush Limbaugh. Every tragedy always effects women and children the worse, and he loved pointing out the hypocrisy.

[–]reeseonxnxx 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women ruin everything, i'm sick.

[–]JoinTheAstleyCult 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

All of our lives have a surplus of stress because of the pandemic…it’s the fucking pandemic, people

[–]Thats-bk 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Why tho?

[–]cuggwy 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

How can it always be the majority of people most effected.
