Why do women care more about facial attractiveness than men?

I think if we’re talking relationships - men care about face just as much as women.

That being said women who typically care about body are women who take really good care of their bodies.

It boils down to options.

Women can date whomever they want, including the tall, ripped dudes with beautiful faces (at least briefly).

Most guys have to settle, you have tits OR ass, legs OR waist, face OR body. We can have it all, since women who do already have lots of options, so we settle.

If women had to, they would absolutely pick body first. I mean, no short fat man with a beautiful face is going to pull more than a tall guy with a ripped body, it doesn't matter what women here on PPD say, this is so obvious that we shouldn't even be arguing this stuff.

Men and women both care a lot.

Men just value bodies more in the short term.

But a lot of guys confuse the attention a guy gets for his face with action.

There's a correlation sure but the strength is determined mostly by your ability to pull the trigger and variance.

People talk to me all the time, buy me drinks. Etc. Because for whatever reason but that stuff doesn't mean much by itself.

I'd say we maybe care about face equally, it's just that women have stricter criteria for what qualifies as an attractive face.

If you count height as part of body, women care about body quite a bit

For the hell of it, I'll play devil's advocate and assume you're right that women value face more and men value body more. My half assed pseudo intellectual guess for why would be is that face indicates good genes which women prioritize because they have more limited chances at reproduction so she needs to prioritize good genes more than men do. A woman's body maybe indicates how well she can birth and feed infants and men prioritize that over genes because men don't have to carry the burden of repoduction like women do so it doesn't matter as much if her genes aren't top notch.

Body is the most observable physical feature from a distance. As you get closer, then face is what we see next. Your face is you. The face is what you talk to. Your face contains the "windows of the soul". It seems most women think of men's perception of female hotness is big tits and incomprehensibly, a big ass. (Does anybody know the term prole drift). I too am a face aficionado, but a tall, slender woman's body can make up for a homely face.

For your weekend reading assignment, I want you all to read Paul Fussell's book "Class".

probably something to do with babies. if a woman has a baby with some guy she finds attractive she'll probably love her baby more because it will most likely have some traits from that guys face

Physical potential for childbearing doesn't necessarily = attractive.

Maybe because lust is discouraged in women and bodies are more sexual than faces.

wasnt there a study that concluded that women feel more attraction to wide shoulders and chest than men feel to breasts? and by this im not saying that men dont care much about the body, but that women value much the body too.

Women are shallower on all criteria. The face women want is rarer than the face men want. The body women want men to have is much harder to attain than the body men want women to have. Barriers for career, income, education, social standing, etc etc are all much higher for men. Women are just far more shallow than men. It really isn’t even close.
