In a sub that I will not name, because rules, a topic was posted showing a kindergarten lesson teaching the difference between fact and opinion.

The OP intended it to be a clever counter-protest to the recent protests, showing how little children are being taught what adults don't seem to know.

The lesson showed a boy saying "cars have 4 wheels" and a girl saying "red cars are pretty". Fact vs opinion, what the difference is, etc.

What OP didn't expect was the tsunami of backlash about how horrific it was that the girl was presenting an opinion and the boy presenting fact.

Every uninformed schmuck who last checked on the planet in the 1950s was quick to assert that kids are always trained that boys are smarter than girls, that the message was toxic, harmful, that TV and other media presents men as smarter than women, girls are always subjected to examples of women not being as smart as men, men need to check their privilege of they think this isn't problematic, you name it.

Insanity.

I know I don't need to post the sources here, but we all know the real statistics.

Girls outperform boys at every level of education, especially at the elementary level.

Women dominate elementary level teaching, by a landslide.

Most media presents men as stupid and women as smart. Kids shows, cartoons, sitcoms, movies, etc.

Unbelievable.

It's crazy that the knee jerk reaction to a boy saying a fact and a girl saying an opinion is somehow reinforcing a prejudice, when in fact it's doing exactly the opposite. It's the opposite of the prevailing prejudice.

I made the mistake of pointing out the fallacy and was labeled a fascist. Yes, a fascist, somehow.

It's an uphill battle for us, uphill through the thorns, and people will tell us that we're going downhill.

How blind are we as a society?

The bias in education is so strong that people actually think the opposite bias exists. How is this even possible?

Its so strong that revealing the imaginary bias as fallacy earns immediate reprimand.
