"#MeToo is over if we don’t listen to ‘imperfect victims’ like Amber Heard"; Gross article denies Men can be victims of abuse & encourages people to never believe Men. Individuals such as this are why so many Men feel uncomfortable about opening up or seeking support.

They want all the privileges and rights as men, but none of the responsibilities.

[–]Killyboiv2 127 points128 points129 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

That's society for you. Even without war this still applies.

[–]TheNerdWonder 42 points43 points44 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Pretty much. I'm as progressive as it gets and I'll even admit it. Crisis/war doesn't create these issues so much as they get revealed.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Same. It’s rare to be redpill / democrat.

[–]Punder_man 93 points94 points95 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

They tend to treat it like a buffet "I'll have some of this privilege and some of those rights but none of those responsibilities"

And yet if a war breaks out they are happy to revert to the sexist notion of "Women are more vulnerable" and will use that to negate the idea that women should be drafted or that its ok for women to flee a country besieged by war but men should stay behind..

[–]sierrabravo1984 39 points40 points41 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

When I was in the navy in 2003, I heard loads of stories of women after 9/11 that suddenly got pregnant and transferred to land bases.

Great Logical minds think alike. In Taiwan, this is referred to as "女權自助餐" which literally translates to "feminist buffet".

This video features a Taiwanese guy debating with his girlfriend about gender. When it comes to mandatory service (4 months in their case), the lady persistently circles back to "but women must take care of kids", to which the guy replies by saying that, thats really her choice and there are no real penalties for not having kids. He then follows up by genuinely asking what for examples of the so called glass ceiling in womens' career. She has no retort apart from, once again, that their career would be stymied if they have kids. Sounds familiar?

I guess feminist logic transcends the cultural differences between the east and west.

Taking care of the children and putting food on the table is like being in a spa, when you compare it to the battlefield.

[–]udongeureut -5 points-4 points-3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Have you ever taken care of children during a war? LMFAO.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You're literally comparing caring for children to dodging bullets and hoping the enemy sticks to the Geneva Convention. Of all the asinine things to say. I've never heard of a mother being struck with PTSD and night terrors because of a crying child. I've never heard of a person losing limbs from changing nappies. You cannot be this desperate for a gotcha moment. Grow up.

[–]Typhooni 19 points20 points21 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I think you have to look up the definition of war, spoiler: there are real casualties, and it's not about some household chores.

[–]skellious 20 points21 points22 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

If men want to fight, thats fine. if women want to fight, also fine. if men want to stay at home, fine. if women want to stay at home, also fine.

the issue is men are forced to fight and women are not. it should be either both or none.

You're right that in many countries women didnt have direct political control, but then again most PEOPLE dont have such control.

Today, women and men have equal voting rights in most countries so both should be voting for a party that will end the draft or extend the draft.

[–]ImplodedPotatoSalad 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

Feminists wanted a privilege of vote without taking on responsibility of dying for the country, tho. Our point stands - they are anout privileges, not equality.

If you want to vote, and rule the country, go and die for it, first. If you dont want to, you should not get same rights as those that are willing.

18 year old boys joining war front after 2 weeks training. Husbands sending their wives and children to safety knowing they might never see them.

18-25 year old women rushing out to safety in Europe and then creating new OFs or raising their OF rates, asking fans to show solidarity with Ukraine.

Yet theguardian "look at this group of brave elite women who are operating drones taking out the Russian tanks".

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The people who write such stories, most of the times, are "feminist" men.

[–]RicoSour 24 points25 points26 points 4 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

This is talking about the Ukrainian war, and I'm wonder if they're more "traditional" compared to progressive nations. How many women are fighting for feminism over there? I don't know much about them to speak on it, but I will say there's always an exception.

[–]Fearless-File-3625 32 points33 points34 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

What's your definition of plenty when every 18+ men is being drafted while compared to barely 100-1000 women soldiers?

[–]u2020bullet -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link

EDIT: Deleted my previous comment and removed the contents from this one. Maybe we should enforce a bit more of a discussion in this subreddit instead of the hivemind downvote. My comments were instantly downvoted by multiple people with no discussion. Great job on reading the reddiquette and contributing to the death of the community of this website. Just a little tip, if you disagree with someone, voice it, it's frustrating getting downvoted with 0 discussing, you know, the same way men are often crucified by public opinion with no chance to explain. Now downvote freely.

[–]SomeonePleaseKillMe1 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

For real, somebody has to protect government owned land. If men must stay and die in a warzone against their will than so be it. As long as we have women we can just create and indoctrinate more boys to take their place.

[–]u2020bullet 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Man that sounds dystopian. Honestly, the draft and reserves should be volunteers only, with large paychecks to stimulate said volunteers to sign up, men or women alike.

Well to be perfectly honest in my opinion, we as humanity should strive for less barbaric conflict and more diplomacy and compromise, but we somehow keep picking leaders that keep on dragging us into war.

[–]Fearless-File-3625 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Bruh what do you mean no discussion ? u/iSkinMonkeys commented within 1 hr of your comment, "What's your definition of plenty when every 18+ men is being drafted while compared to barely 100-1000 women soldiers?".

And you are yet to respond to it. You are the only one not discussing.

[–]u2020bullet -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, and i replied, again, nothing offensive or anything and again started getting tons of downvotes for no reason. I let it sit for a few hours then removed the content. Unfortunately this is a trend i've started seeing more and more on this subreddit, the moment someone shares a slightly different view, it's immediately torches and pitchforks.

To be clear, what i replied to u/iSkinMonkeys was that from what i've seen on the Ukrainian subreddit, there are actually quite a few women in the war, which was refreshing to see and that unfortunately, most countries still keep men ages 18-60 in automatic military reserves in case of invasions or other military emergencies.

There, i repeated it, i'm guessing it's gonna end up exactly the same as last time.

In post soviet countries feminism doesn't exist.

Basically after soviet union ended a lot of people came back and said that feminisms ain't good, that's it.

[–]hifi3xx 28 points29 points30 points 4 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

This is no question that women are victims of war.

Their husbands, fathers, brothers, and sons are slaughtered. When the battlefront collapses and the invading force makes it to the homes of ordinary people – women are the ones raped and murdered in the last stand. It is left up to them to keep civilization running, heal wounds, and work the factories to make weapons of war when men become scarce. No one debates their immense contribution throughout history.

Yes women are the victims of war because when all the men are dead they get killed too. smh

[–]needalife94 27 points28 points29 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Both are victims of war. But most media want to paint this narrative that women are the ones who suffer more. When men come back from war they get treated terribly. They come back misses limbs. They come back with messed up minds , where they were trained to do certain things in certain situations of war and just thrown back into society and expect to act normal. War effects men more.

Does it matter?—losing your legs?...

For people will always be kind,

And you need not show that you mind

When the others come in after hunting

To gobble their muffins and eggs.

Does it matter?—losing your sight?...

There’s such splendid work for the blind;

And people will always be kind,

As you sit on the terrace remembering

And turning your face to the light.

Do they matter?—those dreams from the pit?...

You can drink and forget and be glad,

And people won’t say that you’re mad;

For they’ll know you’ve fought for your country

And no one will worry a bit.

Feminists logic.

[+]leftover-pizza- -19 points-18 points-17 points 4 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

There’s a grain of truth in it. If a population loses too many of its young, fertile females, the population completely crashes. Like, dies off. You need a lot of females to repopulate, and need less males as one male can impregnate several females. You just need to make sure there’s enough males to keep diversity in genes. For this reason, women going to war has been pretty much a no-go as this brings far too much risk on the entire population. I don’t see this changing anytime soon. Men going to war is less disastrous when it comes to literally just sustaining a population but of course losing a generation of young men, traumatizing them, disabling them, is fucking horrific enough. For the individuals involved but also for the population because men are of irreplaceable value in rebuilding society. So all of this doesn’t mean men should just go die at war. No one should be forced to fight, really.

[–]No-Satisfaction-2320 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

By this logic, if men are drafted and women are exempt, should women be forced to get pregnant to repopulate? No right?

[–]NeoNotNeo 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There are no feminists when the lifeboats come out.

[–]DecimatingDarkDeceit 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

because they want the men literally as thralls/serfs and even canonfodder

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Feminism is not about equality but about superiority. Feminists pick everything that benefits them and push all the bad and hard stuff on men. Do some research guys.

[–]Wilddog73 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I was just talking about White Feather feminism.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Accountability and responsibility are a bitch to deal with.

[–]sharksquidz 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There's a surprise

[–]Halafax 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Feminists never demand equality. They reserve all the privileges for women that they think men have, but pick up none of the responsibilities.

[–]DaltonRobert56 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

True Feminists would support it. Equality doesn't mean pick and choose. This ain't no buffet.

[–]Zerofuksyall 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Why can’t we just be humanist? It’s not like females invented compassion or empathy, or have a monopoly on it

[–]patiricachooley 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I mean, does any of us actually want to be involved in a war?

[–]Sailbad_the_Sinner30 -3 points-2 points-1 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Uhm… so we are agreed that women should be allowed to do all jobs they are capable of in the military? I think you will find very few feminists disagreeing with that. In fact, feminists organizations have been doing their best to pry the military open to women at all levels.

Also, maybe it’s just me, but most me don’t want to be drafted, either.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Men who don't want to be drafted will be forced. Women won't be forced, and most love to keep it that way.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Why not remove the draft completely then? Why is this an issue of what women want instead of what society wants? If neither men nor women want to be drafted, why are we arguing that women won't be drafted and not focusing on the fact that men will? It's not like its the feminists that are deciding who will or will be drafted

[–]Sailbad_the_Sinner30 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Absolutely! In full agreement here.

[–]Sailbad_the_Sinner30 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Hey, more power to them, then. I certainly don’t want to be drafted.

But, again, who is responsible for this state of affairs? Not feminists. Feminists have been fighting tooth and nail for more women in the military since forever. The people opposing them are the exact same people who refuse to draft women.

Those people are neither feminists nor women.

So if this is a huge issue for you, you should be fighting, with feminists, to make military service gender neutral. Me? Frankly, I’d rather fight to keep it so NO ONE gets drafted.

By the way, that whole drafted thing? We’re going up on fifty years now where it hasn’t been an issue in the U.S. So forgive me if this sounds a little lame as some sort of oppressive burden men toil under. Best thing to do here, again, is fight WITH feminists for a gender neutral military. Which most MRAs I hear from seem to be loathe to do, for some reason.
