It's really only a pain that a man can feel. Women don't have to worry that the child they're carrying isn't theirs.

It's a betrayl of the highest form. It's your entire world crumbling. Its enough to utterly destroy someone.

I agree thst it's not the children's fault and that they will suffer too. But all the suffering is caused by one person and its the person that lied.

Paternity fraud is something that gets brushed over everytime its brought up, like it's no big deal. But the man has been completely devastated by this, it has driven men to suicide in some cases. Sometimes even after learning it's not their child they are still forced to pay child support and in my mind thsts indentured servitude.

Every now and again there are new stories about about babies being swapped accidentally at maternity hospitals, and only a few years later do people discover they were sent home with the wrong baby. Something, this is treated as a terrible tragedy, and there are demands for financial compensation, that the people responsible should be punished, and so on.

Yet when a man discovers a deceitful woman has lied that child is his, he raises the child as his own, then only later discovers the child was never his at all, this is rarely treated as a terrible tragedy, there are no demands that somebody should be punished, and certainly no financial compensation for the man. Quite the opposite tends to occur: the man is cast as evil for suggesting he isn't the father ("it takes more than sperm to make you a dad") and having been deceived into raising the child all those year, HE is the one who is expected to keep paying for the upkeep of that child which is not his.

The contrast between how the two situations are treated is striking. Yet not surprising, since this is just another everyday example of female privilege, where society is built around protected women even if it means sacrificing men in the process.

funny how none of the comments suggest that maybe the kids would be better off without a mother who'd lie and manipulate others to her own benefit.

That question pisses me off so much. It’s a completely reductionist thing to say. It’s like I KNEW the child wasn’t mine, raised it and decided to high tail. That’s not what happened!!! I was lied to, deceived and tricked into thinking that I’ve given birth to these beautiful children and forming a bond with them. Then years down the line, I’m told that the basis on which I became close to them was an utter lie and the woman that I loved so dearly and appreciated for giving me such wonderful gifts had rather betrayed me multiple times.

I never had a choice. My agency was ripped away and those kids, despite being innocent, will potentially be reminders of that lie. I’d rather know upfront that the children coming into my life are not mind and have the choice to raise them than be lied to that they’re God’s gift to me and the fruit of the love between me and my wife.

Then again, a woman can never go through this so I don’t expect them to understand.

status quo Policy makers would have to overcome multiple layers of ingrained gynocentrism to correct injustices like this. Every step would be like pulling teeth. Yeah I saw this article. If it was me, being a mean son of a bitch, I'd have taken those kids and put them up for adoption in some foreign country. There's absolutely nothing preventing him from doing it, since legally they're his. I'd go over to her parents and explain I'd put the kids up for adoption, and that they'd never see them again. You failed as parents, you don't get the opportunity to fail again.

If he knows himself and can predict he will be a shitty father full of resentment maybe it is the best decision to leave, but he is still the adult.

You never, ever leave children you have been entrusted with without making sure they are in safe hands first. No matter how or why it has happened. If you are walking the street and find a random lost child, you are still not justfied to leave wihout having solved their situation first. This is how it works. Adults are responsible for children as a general rule.

It is incredibly selfish and irresponsible to leave without making sure, at the very least, that the girls will be fine. Fuck his feelings, children first.
