Im in Colorado for starters. 19 year marriage on life support. Two kids. Wife has a higher salary than I do BUUT i get a bonus check most years - the last two years my end of year bonus was greater than my annual salary. The year before business was so bad I didnt get a bonus - so its very inconsistent.

She has never been able to control her spending so most of our finances are in separate names. I have about $100k in cash/stock earmarked for kids college, no debts in my name other than the joint mortgage. She js about $50k in debt and zero savings. I have a couple toys I own free and clear - I can liquidate and pay off all her debt if I need to with out touching savings. She DOES have the lions share of our retirement money in her name ($500k).

My goal would be to keep her in the house for the kids sake, and try to establish a household of my own for joint custody. Problem is if i have a big monthly pay out to her - I would struggle to afford a place my kids could also stay at.

Ive read that over a certain income in Colorado there is no spousal support - but the online calcs say $1300 in child support. I can handle that - but even if shes debt free on a $130k salary and getting $1300 in support Im not sure she could handle a $3k mortgage (sounds ridiculous but that how it feels)

My question then is - for those guys, especially in Colorado, that have done this - can you share what you were made to pay and what I should expect in my situation. Ive spoken with one attorney but he was thoroughly unhelpful.
