I have no issue with female soldiers in fictitious or modern combat scenarios, but if we're representing a factual, historic conflict then it should be accurate. In WW1 and WW2 combat troops were exclusively men, to claim otherwise is a misrepresentation of the truth and an insult to those brave men who died on the battlefield. The only times I see people get upset about games introducing female characters is this case, when history is being altered to fit a modern political viewpoint. Some modern shooters like overwatch have lots of female characters and are very successful...however it's a completely made up environment.

Girls should be taught WHY there are no female soldiers in a WW2 game...because only men were the one's doing the fighting and dying allowing them to have the choice to moan about it later.

I remember being so disappointed I couldn’t play Tomb Raider because Lara Croft is… left-handed while I’m right-handed? White while I’m not? Fictional while I’m real? Wasn’t the whole point that video games are NOT the same as reality?

I have played quite a few battlefield games like 2042, 5 , 1 , 4, and 1942. Only two of these games had the female soldiers option to be customised and played.

I can't tell you how much I freaking love battlefield (maybe not as much anymore...~~2042 (because every aspect of that game sucked)~~). But I am myself a woman and I knew there wasn't female soldiers and honestly I didn't care. Female soldiers existed, but as far as I'm concerned they were a rarity amongst the amount of male soldiers deployed.

I'm pretty sure if I looked at battlefield 5 right now, my current soldier is a male lol.

I was shocked to see female soldiers and I guess it was kind of cool since video game projection is something people do. But again I didn't care, I was maybe skeptical.

To be honest, with EA, they just did it to push customisables more into their games. With this they could push for game passes that people need to pay for. Because if my memory is fixed on right, both of these occured at the same time.

What annoys me is they made fake stories for fake women.

There are PLENTY of women heroins who fought in ww2. EA ignored the russian night witches, the russian sniper women, resistant fighters, tank drivers, anti aircraft units and so on.

The red army alone had 1 million women in their ranks. All ignored for some woke crap.

I didn't care they put women in the game, I cared they put FAKE women in.

They deserve their stories told.

There were plenty of female combat troops in WWII, Just not fighting for the USA. To say otherwise is terribly inaccurate. However there were many brave and bad ass women fighting for the Soviet Union in combat roles. If BFV wanted to be historically accurate, they should have made a game about that. There were MANY brave servicewomen on the US side, however they were kept well away from combat. That in no way takes away from their bravery, but it’s just a part of our history.

Also, I believe it’s very important to keep games like this historically accurate, for the most part. The sad truth is that many people don’t have the mental fortitude to fact check what they see when it comes to movies or video games that are historical, and they sometimes take it as fact. When I was a kid I LOVED Red Dead Redemption, and if you would have asked me then what the Wild West was like I’d of described what I saw on RDR.

From a financial perspective, it would make sense to have games that have the option for female characters. That said, if the game is designed around an historical narrative where it would not historically make sense to have a male character that would make sense to me.
