Not even officially divorced yet (but will be any day now), ex is shacked up with new GF of < 4 months (she switched teams after I filed). She has majority of parenting time, so kids are around the new GF often, and ex seems to have designated GF primary disciplinarian. Wouldn’t normally expect a rebound like this to last, but new GF and ex have taken significant steps toward merging finances that would be very tough to unwind — seems like they’ve gone all in on one another very quickly. They attend extracurriculars as a couple, pretty open about everything.

Ex has not even mentioned new partner to me, but my kids, former neighbors, etc. have given me the scoop. Kids are all kinds of messed up over it — too much too soon, weird having a new person scold them all the time, new GF calls all the shots and has totally changed up their routines.

There have been times when I dropped the kids off, ran by to give them something, etc. where new GF was the only one around the house. Inevitably, I’ll have to interact with her at some point, and I’d like to avoid the awkwardness of doing so without having been formally introduced. I’d like to approach the ex and say, “hey, I understand you’ve found a new partner who you’re happy with. Since I expect they’ll be a big part of the kids’ life, it’s probably a good idea for us to have a brief introduction.” However, the fact that the ex hasn’t made that intro in the first place leads me to think this would not be welcome — any of you guys been in a similar situation, and what kind of experience did you have?

Additional context: BPD ex who made false DV allegations, so I’m sure I’ve been painted black in the eyes of the new GF. Definitely more of a “parallel parenting” than coparenting relationship, so I’d normally aim to avoid interaction. But in this case, seems like some degree of interaction is necessary in order to maintain some semblance of normality for the kids’ sake. I’ve been emotionally detached for years so have zero emotional hang ups about a replacement being in the picture
