Because I could. You learn in life very few people have morals. They just do whatevers right for them. If I had kids with her then I wouldn't. Only because it would effect the kids who didn't ask to be in this world.

I cheated because my fiance (later wife) wasn't initiating and I ran into an exgf at a bar and she came on strong to me. It felt nice to be wanted. I ended up telling my fiance the next day. The shame was overwhelming. Never cheated since - I just avoid the type of situations where it's likely to happen.

Was with a girl I was sexually incompatible with, growing resentment over her not enjoying certain bedroom things as much as me. Took it personally. Ended up going drinking with some coworkers after work, ended up at one their houses, stayed up the whole night shooting shit with eachother. Morning came and two of the coworkers came onto me, denied the first one out of morals and then thought about how frustrated I felt with my girl and went ahead with the second one.

I stopped halfway through out of guilt but ultimately in hindsight the threesome would have been fun. I was too hung up trying to make something work that just wasn’t going to.

Often a person will cheat in order to maintain the relationship. They are not entirely fulfilled, and cheating is an escape valve that enables them to stay with their partner.

Personally, I think it is better to have the hard conversations and make it explicit (and so not cheat) but for good and bad reasons lots of people don't.
