April 2015, Nungesser (the man) filed a Title IX gender discrimination lawsuit against Columbia, its board of trustees, university president Lee Bollinger, and Sulkowicz's supervising art professor Jon Kessler, alleging that Columbia had facilitated gender-based harassment by allowing Sulkowicz to receive course credit for the performance.[3][10][11] Federal District Court Judge Gregory H. Woods dismissed the lawsuit[12] but allowed Nungesser to refile an amended suit,[12] which was settled by Columbia in July 2017.[13] In 2017, the university issued a statement acknowledging that Nungesser experienced a very difficult time, promised to keep its gender-based misconduct policies fair, and settled Nungesser's lawsuit under undisclosed terms.[14]

He didn’t sue Mattress Girl, he sued Colombia. She got off scot free.

The reason why he wasn’t expelled (or charged by police) is because he’d kept text messages and Facebook messages of her contacting him before and immediately after her “rape” wanting to meet up for parties, wanting to spend alone time with him etc. And her being the one who wanted to try “anal” with him (it was her idea). In fact it was more than 6 months later when she had a little session with an ex-girlfriend of the guy that they were complaining about him and they suddenly both “realised” that they’d been “raped” by him. More than 6 months down the track. Now I get it that women can change their mind about sex, but withdraw consent 6 months after the event? Come on!

Oh and the Title IX suit was dismissed. He submitted a different one.

I mean, frequency of victimization is practically irrelevant. The system should remain impartial and allow the accused to defend themselves which is the fair thing to do and anything short of that is just discrimination. It's as simple as that. Even if one man is screwed over by the system, he is still a victim and he deserves justice. All people must be treated fairly and all people must be given the resources to seek justice.

There's absolutely no good faith way to bring in frequency of victimization like saying " False accusations are rare and only less than X%" without trivializing or discounting the issues victims of false accusations face.

Just because only a "few" men are falsely accused doesn't mean those men suffer less.

Whenever you come across someone bringing percentages when talking about social issues, you can know for sure that they are being bad faith and are using the stats to show that their problem is more important than other problems. They are here for winning victim olympics. And in this case, implying that rape of women is more important than false accusations of men when in reality, they are both important in their own way and need to be addressed.

You just linked Title IX itself. What do you mean by "data"? What exactly are you claiming is false? The article is saying something specific.

The Obama-era guidance essentially tipped the scales in the direction of the accusers, typically women, with millions of dollars of federal funding for schools on the line.

During the Trump administration, former secretary of education Betsy DeVos pushed back, issuing more-balanced regulations requiring schools to offer basic due-process rights to both the accuser and the accused in sex-assault cases.

But in late June, President Joe Biden’s administration proposed sweeping new regulations that would roll back many of those protections, fulfilling a promise he’d made during his campaign. The right to a live hearing? Gone under the Biden proposal. The right to cross-examination? Also gone. Schools could launch sexual-assault investigations without a formal complaint. The single-investigator model would be back on the table. Instead of turning over their evidence, investigators could simply offer the parties a written summary of the “relevant” evidence.

“You’re going back to the dark ages, in my view,” said Eric Rosenberg, an Ohio-based lawyer who specializes in defending students falsely accused of Title IX sexual-assault violations. “It seems like I’m going back in time to the Obama-era rules,” said Kimberly Lau, who is Feibleman’s lawyer.

Damn right 45. A girl says she was raped, then she was raped, I mean what more do you need to know? And all this stuff about telling the accused what the allegations are, like the time of the rape and all that is clearly just a right wing, conservative plot to let rapists get away with it. I mean who but a conservative could possibly think that a guy accused of rape is anything but “guilty as hell”, and who but an “evil conservative” would support stuff like a “fair hearing” which can only be to let the guilty off. And, like Metoo, if a few (hundreds of thousands?) guys get chucked out who were less rapey (all PiV sex is rape according to many feminists - who are clearly the authorities on this subject) well that’s a price well worth paying to punish the guilty. In fact I’m sure it’s only “evil conservatives” that stop men being incarcerated in camp and let out under guard for stuff like work, or if female want to check them out like a library book for a time. A very modest proposal made by many very reasonable feminists. This would definitely do something about rape! /s (in case anyone wonders)
