Figured this might be a good place to post this as other places might ban or downvote but what are your thoughts on comitting suicide to honor a husband who has died, not as a choice based in sorrow but as a spiritual decision to just follow them to another plane?

Whenever I internet search this topic all I get are suicide prevention hotlines or history about the forced practice of Sati where woman were forced to walk onto the funeral pyres of their husbands and only in rare cases do so from voluntary devotion.

The only other places I can find discussions of people doing this are in eastern scholarly texts and they often involve a student and a guru rather than a husband and wife. There are examples in Norse Pagan cultures as well.

Also this is a hypothetical. My partner and I are fine so dont worry. Its more a philosophical curiosity as it seems to have no basis in the West as a legitimate choice but becoming more interesting to think about as countries begin to introduce voluntary Euthanasia.

Personally I very much enjoy life but I have reached a place via spiritual practice of neither wanting to die nor clinging to life and avoiding death. Having grown up poor and then becoming wealthy later in life I've also experienced immense suffering and incredible pleasure so at this point the physical world seems like a lovely amusement park and I wouldn't miss much about it except maybe the opportunity to read more books from the past and record more observations about this era for future souls.

My partner and I are also very close and have been together for decades. We dont have children or extended family and so we wonder about this. If my partner died I would make sure to mourn thoroughly before making such a drastic decision as to end my physicality but it def crosses my mind as an option to just join him if he departs before me.

Anyway curious what others think about this especially spiritually and not necessarily from just Western Abrahamic traditions which make suicide a sin by default.

Thanks!
