My STBXW and I committed to #vanlife. Bought a camper truck, got my daughter, and we took off in June. My STBXW was going to join us and I have some texts/evidence that supports this was going to be what happened. She never did...sent an email saying she really wanted to finish out her career and decided to stay at the house to work instead of renting it. Fine with me, I haven't been happier in a long time, and hey, her company gave her a little award for being a good employee. I didn't abandon her, and we had a budget in her handwriting for what we'd rent the house for. Somebody is living in my daughter's bedroom right now. My daughter and I are having a great time living the life my family was supposed to be living. Seems to me going back just makes it easier for her to make a case that I need to move back to where she lives so she can see my daughter at her convenience while I have to deal with the cost of a second residence. STBXW wants to go to in-person counseling, but counseling has always just been her way of dragging shit out while I try and try again. I don't think it's worth it. I'm not keeping her daughter from her...I pick up any time she calls and have gone out of my way to meet her for visits. She gets pictures all the time of the cool shit we're doing. When we left in June we had already packed up anything of any personal experience and put it in storage. Lawyers I've consulted with have run the gambit from "Yeah, you're all good and might get custody" to "The courts like 50/50 weekly custody, so brace yourself for that". Not sure what to think.
