My mother left my dad and I over text one day when I was 9.

At the trial, she said she doesn't want to have anything to do with me and that she would rather:

Not pay alimony
Not get the kid (me)

And in return for this? That she would give me her side of the house we owned. House bought by my dad with his own money from his parents.

She went on to have another kid, named him same as me, left him too at around same age.

Moral of the story? Try not hating women... but it's time to wake the fuck up.

Men, do not marry. Do not hold doors. Do not smile back. Loneliness is way better than being made to feel worthless. You are worthy and loved.

Edit: I want to make sure this does not come across as "be a dick to women" or "hate women" or anything of sorts. I'm saying stay in your lane and learn the signs. There is nothing wrong with striving to find the woman for whom you'd sacrifice your time, effort, even happiness for (if periods arise where you need to sacrifice to provide security). Just keep looking, make sure your bullshit meter is on high alert. See the signs.

Also, do not marry until you've spent a few good years with someone and your bullshit meter is at a constant speed, no highs no lows.

All in all - Stop pleasing women, and see the signs you blind fools. The right, lovely, loving, embracing, respectful, humble, intelligent (and so on) women are out there. Trust me, I've met many, even had the luck to be in a relationship with one.

The rest of them? I saw the signs......

That would depend if you live in a man hating state or not. In Texas, if they can't agree on who keeps the house, it is sold and the equity split. If they can agree on who will stay in the house, the person staying in the house pays the mortgage. If there is any equity, the person staying in the house, pays the other person half the equity.

I think it would be more accurate to say that courts are most likely to go along with whatever the current living arrangement is. Usually when it comes to them, the couple is already living separately, most often it being the husband who moved out either by his own choice or so he could get some peace and quiet from her yelling/nagging him to move out.

My neighbors went through a divorce and his lawyer advised him if he wanted to keep the house, to not move out. She eventually gave in to moving out. He kept the house.

Depending on where you live, never leave the house as it can be seen as abandonment which means you are more likely to lose your kids or house.

Woman here. I was extremely stupid for doing this, but 5 years ago I left my abusive husband. I could have put him through the ringer in court. (Took house, child support and alimony) but I didn’t. I didn’t give a shit about the house. It was filled with so many fights and tears. I just wanted to be out. I didn’t fight for child support either, because how he made money he couldn’t show proof of income (not a drug dealer). He also claimed to be suicidal if I mentioned taking away anything. He put such a guilt on me and although he was a shitty husband he was a good dad to our son. So what did I do? I just completely walked away and washed my hands from it all

This is normal today because when divorce was first exploding on to the scene in the 1970s, women still were housewives. They didn’t have jobs, income, couldn’t get a lease, couldn’t get a credit card. They were also home with the kids all day, so she would have to move her and the kids because the dad was working.

Fast forward to current era, and it is statistically shown that the majority of married women still do more than 60 percent of the house work, family management, appointment scheduling, driving, and emotional labor AND they make less money than their husbands by 20%. So the man has more flexibility, money, time, and fewer logistical barriers to leaving.

Now, this is true for about 70% of married households whose couples were born before 1985 (I am a sociologist), and changing for younger men and women. BUT the family court system hasn’t changed much at all, so why fight it when a judge is going to order a no-contact if you don’t leave when she asks nicely.

First of all , I think you are wrong about men always paying the womens bills. Now a days most couples both have to work. Especially if they are earning average income. Obviosuly if someone is making bank they can afford to pay all the bills. But most men are not making bank.

Second of all , I agree that the man shouldn't be kicked out. What I think it should be is if the man buys the house he gets to stay and so does the women but she has a certain amount of time to find a place. Once that time is up THEN she gets kicked out. And vis versa.

Usually it's because of kids. In a trad family, the guy isn't equipped to take care of the kids by himself, so he leaves the wife and kids there.

I don't think this is some anti man thing. It's just what happens because of how our society has been traditionally structured, with women as caretakers.

Equality - hmmm. I fought for custody of my oldest daughter. I had everything imaginable to prove I was the more solid parent. I still lost. Old school midwestern judges believe children belong with their mother.

Second divorce. She gave up so I told her you're going to tell our child you're giving up on me. She demanded we sell the house and I said no. You're going to move out so our daughter retains a sense of normalcy. You can't force me to sell the house anyway. So we agreed that I refinance and pay her out half the equity.

I'm now 52, have had a recent failed relationship with an over-the-top angry feminist and the crazy part is, I would still get married again. However, a prenup would be mandatory. Both men and women should be protecting their own personal interests. Love is fickle at best, temporary at the least.

Don’t marry. If you want property buy it yourself with no one else. Keep it and make sure if you do decide to marry you have an airtight prenup. I mean hire a great lawyer.

I know a guy who had property before his marriage she had to swell it and give her half! She had nothin to do with it!

So don’t marry. If you really are hell bent on getting married make sure your stuff is off-limits. My friend made a 450,000 dollar mistake on that one
