The top 5% having more sex doesn't mean that people in the lower percentiles have less sex. This is not a sum-zero game, where an increase in the top-group means that they're taking sex away from everyone else.

It could be the same group of people fucking each other more (hint: hookup culture), while everyone outside of that bubble is unaffected. It could be the entire population fucking more. And that's not even going into the fact that "number of sexual partners" isn't even a good approximation for how much sex you have. It is known that people in committed relationships have MORE sex (and higher sexual satisfaction!) than people who jump from partner to partner - so... lower number of sexual partners = more (and better) sex, potentially. That whole framing of a top x% threatening a critical resource when it comes to sex is just mindbendingly stupid.

Too bad I can't read the study (correction: It's just a Guest Editorial, lol) because it's paywalled and scihub hasn't listed it yet. But I would advise everyone here to reject a framing that implies that such a "concentration" of sex should necessarily have bad effects for the rest of the population. It just doesn't hold up to scrutiny.

I don't think you understand what this says.

What it means that 5% of the population ( men and WOMEN) have more sex than the bottom 50% which makes sense most men and women have under 6 life time partners.
