My child custody case is finally coming to an end. I can't help but feel defeated by the state, my attorney, and my Sons mom. I went to mediation.. that was by far the biggest waste of $300 of my life, it was a joke and a horrible waste of time.

The entire session was spent with the mediator telling me that I needed to communicate with the mother. Unfortunately he didn't understand that every time I speak to this woman she twists my words and ends up calling the police over something.

I finally ended mediation when we determined she wasn't going to let me have my Son overnight until he was at least 3. I'm not waiting any longer to be unsupervised and have my Son overnight.

I finally received a written offer last week, and my attorney seems to think it's the best I would get in court. I have to wait 3 months to have my Son overnight but the supervision ends immediately. I will have him from Friday at 6p to Sunday at 6p every other weekend and I will also have him every week on Tuesday and Thursday from 6p - 8p.

To top it all off, his mother got a DUI and a resisting a peace officer charge this last weekend. I just don't understand how a court is looking out for his "best interest" if that means placing him with someone who isn't responsible enough to know when they've had too much to drink.

In my state a DUI is a class a misdemeanor and the resisting charge is a felony. I have no felonies, no DUIs, I have a job, two vehicles, a house that I OWN. Yet she lives with her mother and he won't even have his own room.

So much for an unbiased court decision that is in the best interest of the child. I can't begin to describe how much I hurt thinking about how little I will be seeing my Son. Maybe some day I can get some truly meaningful time with him..

A truly heartbroken father.
