Your title's a bit misleading. The individual didn't just share the pictures, he posted her personal information along with them. I see no reason for someone to do that unless they were trying to incite the kind of harassment he's now accountable for.

I basically agree with nothing you said there. At the time she took those pictures, they were together, so there was trust, it was not stupid and there's nothing moronic on doing this. Risky perhaps? Maybe. What he did is terrible and I just can't defend it in any way. I can't disagree with it being a felony, I think it's fair punishment considering that he attached her name and address and we have laws to protect people's privacy. The felony was based on harassment, but wouldn't it fit "voyeurism" better? I remember the case with this poster from a popular bodybuilding forum who landed in jail for sharing a porn video without the consent of the affected woman.

Oh yeah, that poor person who intentionally released someone's personal information and private photos with the intention of bringing them harassment and ruining their life. They're the real victim here.

Personal responsibility? For what? She's responsible for the photo existing, but not for releasing it to the public with her information with the intention of hurting her. And that's the crime. She isn't guilty of the crime committed here, he is. And I hope there are more cases brought to court like this so people will realize the internet is not some totally anonymous alternative reality where you can get away with anything you want.

My opinion is that this is rude, hurtful, disrespectful, and cruel. It should not, though, be illegal. You send someone nude pictures of yourself, you risk them showing them to others. Protip: Establish a trusting relationship with others before you send them your nude photos. If they end up sharing them with others without your approval, be a grown up about it and learn that you chose unwisely.

The problem I have is that I could photoshop anyone's head onto anyone's body, take a screenshot of the facebook of the person, combine the two, then post it on the internet. It doesn't even have to be real. On a similar note, let's say OP sent the pictures to multiple people, (not saying she did, but pretend for a second). Now she sees them online, and sends the police after her ex-bf who she is angry at. There are just WAY too many mitigating circumstances, loopholes, and ways to use a law like that maliciously. The best policy would be to not be a fucktard and send naked pictures WITH YOUR FACE in them to people. If it was just her body no one would know the two are connected, even if the ex-gf attached contact information and a body shot, that could be anyone.

The fact that OTHER people are sending her 'creepy' messages on FB or Reddit or whatever is the trigger for a felony..I mean are you serious? Delete the messages, lesson learned, move on with life. To throw a temper tantrum because you did something stupid and it backfired on you is just ridiculous.
