There's a men's shed at the community centre my nan goes to. It's for men who want to make friends, socialise and make use of the woodworking facilities to do personal projects. Seems like a good thing to me.

I like this programme except for one thing - government money means women have to be permitted into the spaces. Those few Men's Sheds that do not receive government funding are the only ones that are spaces solely for men.

These are a great program, not only does it help with the mens mental health these groups also give back to community. Often mens social networks, especially older men, is based around their work which is also a major part of their self image. When they retire they often lose this part of them and feel useless and cut off from the community. This isn't just an investment in mental health its also an investment in the local communities.

Hmmmm... if this is recent and the state government is ruled by the same political party as the national government , I wonder if this is an attempt to show that somebody in said party actually does give a shit about men.
