I don't know anything about naming babies, but skimming through they had a good compromise, and the girlfriend changed it to only her last name. I'm pretty sure a father gets a call there. I'm not crazy right?

In Florida an unmarried father has no legal rights to custody or timesharing until paternity is established. Until paternity is legally established with the courts, the mother has sole, legal and physical custody of the child or children.

When I had my son, since I was not married to my bf he was not allowed to sign any of the paperwork besides the birth certificate, and then it was only him signing that he was accepting the child as his. Everything regarding my health and pur sons was left up to myself, per the hospitals requirements.
