Just be confident, bro

- Chad (probably)

When browsing through redpill content, you often come across the concept of “inner confidence”. Or “inner calm”. Or “belief in yourself”. Or some other way of describing the same thing.

This inner confidence is a concept that’s very confusing for beginners to grasp. Many of them lift, improve their life, yet they still can’t seem to gain this inner confidence. They sometimes have days where they feel confident, but on most days, they feel like shit, like they didn’t even start self improvement in the first place.

This is because it’s something that’sB very poorly described in redpill literature, hence why I’ll try to explain it in a very simplistic and practical sense. I’m writing this on a phone on purpose to keep it brief.

It’s the elephant again

Inner confidence is your own subconscious high valuation of yourself. I recently put out a post where I likened the subconscious mind to an elephant and your conscious mind (the real yourself) to the rider. The elephant doesn’t speak English, it only listens to senses from the outside world, so you can’t exactly talk yourself into being confident. If the elephant is convinced you’re of high value, it’s gonna obey you a bit more easily, it’s gonna go down the paths you wanna go faster. If the elephant is convinced that you’re low value, it might just stop, lie down and slowly rot. This is depression.

So imagine you have a “subconscious self-value” meter like in a video game. This meter has nothing to do with what you consciously (rationally) think of yourself. This is why newbies say shit like “I’m going to the gym, I’m improving, why do I still feel like shit? :(“ It’s cause they can rationalise their value, but the elephant doesn’t believe it. It’s like you’re trying to impress a whole different being that just happens to live in your head (and one that controls how your feel).

The value meter

So again, imagine you have a subconscious self-value meter like in a video game. Like all video game mechanics, there’s rules:

Rules of the meter:

  • If the meter gets low, you get depression. You’re gonna feel like shit, with no clear explenation why. Tasks will be hard to accomplish, you’re gonna feel like you’re walking in mud.
  • If the meter gets high, you’re gonna get that inner self confiendece feeling everyone is always talking about. Things will be easier, you’re gonna escalate Kino with stranger girls very naturally, you’re gonna talk to strangers much more easily, you’re gonna be smiling randomly throughout the day
  • The meter is never stationary. If you’re not actively working to increase it, it starts declining slowly by default. You need to work on increasing it every day.

Here are the things that increase your meter:

  • Doing hard things that you don’t feel like doing that move your towards your goals. I hate working out. There’s nothing fun for me about lifting weights up and down for an hour and a half. There’s a million things I’d rather be doing. However I wanna be strong and look good. That’s why I wake up at 6 AM to go to the gym first thing in the morning. It sucks when I wake up, it sucks when I’m at the gym, but when I’m done with my workout, I feel really good. My whole day has been made better because I’m a winner that has won over his own laziness. Be sure to have a few wins like this every day and you’ll feel amazing.
  • Genuine compliments and acknowledgments. These are sort of a super boost that comes once in a while. They’re like a reward for your hard work. They’re rare, but they make your day better instantly. However this varies from person to person.

Here are things that decrease your meter:

  • Not taking action to further your goals. If you see a cute girl and you don’t approach her, you just decreased your meter. If you wanted to go to the gym and stayed in bed cause it was nice and comfy, you decreased your meter. If you’re lonely and you don’t go out on Friday to try and socialise, you decreased your meter.
  • Trying and failing might decrease the meter a little bit, if you’re a bit insecure and new to all this. Failing doesn’t mean losing, it means you learned. And failing to take action is much worse than trying and failing.

I truly believe increasing your bar every day by taking action and going into battle with hard stuff is the only way to stop being a depressed mushy piece of shit and start living a life that’s a blast. Talking to women and game gets much easier once you stack these small wins and get into the flow of being a winner.

It’s helped me immensely. Hope it can help you too (:
