If a woman seeks out 2 famous athletes and sleeps with them on the same night, the men are "guilty of vile misogyny." No word on whether the women are misandrists if a man sleeps with 2 women on the same night.

Woman chloroformed a man at gunpoint, drove him to another town, chained him to a bed, and raped him for 3 days in 1977. Journalists felt "the case provided 'light relief' for the newspaper-reading public, from more serious stories about politicians."

Men's lives literally don't count. HEADLINE: "Nigerian soldiers battle Boko Haram, kill 15, rescue 49 women, children." 10 PARAGRAPH LATER: "Four men, 33 women and 16 children were rescued by the troops from the insurgents’ hideouts."

Feminists seem to want to completely ignore that of those opposed to or wanting limits on abortion, roughly half are women.

[–]fengpi 14 points15 points16 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They're experts at ignoring that. They act as if every single one of them is a man. Naturally, the sainted Roe v Wade decision was handed-down by genderless beings in black robes whose dick-having can be ignored; if you have a dick and any kind of opinion on that matter whatsoever, your dick is the first thing the feminists point out. They even think pro-choice men should shut their faces and vanish.

As you wish, ladies. Have fun fighting your own battles and don't come crying to me if the Church Ladies win the day.

[–]cknight18 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

The also paint the discussion wrong. Whether you're pro-choice or pro-life, the debate does not come down to "is it a women's right to choose, or not?" It comes down to "is the fetus a human being with inherent rights, or not."

[–]TracyMorganFreeman 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well more precisely "is the fetus a person with inherent rights, and if so which ones?". A fetus is a human being and alive, but not necessarily a person.

Pro-choicers intentionally avoid this question because it's much harder to answer.

Pro-lifers kind of skip the question and just declare that since it's human it inherently has rights.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

That's why they paint the discussion that way. If they paint the discussion as "is the fetus a human being with inherent rights" they then have to defend killing off the fetus as a right. The first one, they can paint anyone who disagrees as evil. That's also why they dehumanize the fetus. I talked with one feminist that believes until the baby comes out, it's just a blob of snot. Not only was she ok with abortion, she was happy she got rid of her snot. If the fetus is just a glob of snot, there's no issue getting rid of it. I mean, there's no ban on blowing your nose, so there should be any ban on getting rid of a fetus glob of snot in your uterus.

[–]andejoh 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I disagree. With feminists the fetus is whatever the mother decides it is. If she thinks it's a baby then she needs to be protected from pregnancy discrimination, etc. If she thinks it's a ball of snot, then she can get rid of it.

Schrodinger's Snot? Both a miracle of life and a ball of snot at the same time.

Their worldview can only comprehend things with a male perpetrator female victim dynamic, that's all it's set up for.

[–]dazmo 15 points16 points17 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's kinda like Hillary said though, any time a woman does something that The View would disagree with, it's because some man has brainwashed her.

[–]5th_Law_of_Robotics 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well just never have sex then. That's what you tell men who don't want to be forced in to parenthood.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The problem as I see it is that what some people call “convenience” I call “basic human needs.” If you don’t want to be pregnant, you shouldn’t have to be. That’s basic bodily autonomy.

I wonder if there is any way to prevent pregnancy.

It all boils down to, "I should be able to go through life without doing anything to prevent things I don't want to happen from happening, and I should have a reset switch, for free, in any case those things happen." Now, it wouldn't be as bad as it is if that notion stopped there, but it goes way further to, "Anyone that disagrees with me is a misogynist, and those people should be banned from speaking."

[–]GreatNebulaInOrion 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It is funny how they throw out "body autonomy" like it is some Trump card. Like a inalienable sacrosanct right which implies what they want.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Half of abortion are baby girls.

[–]User-31f64a4e 7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Typical female solopsism.
The law is not about regulating female bodies, it is about protecting unborn infants!
It might be an open question if a fetus has rights, or is a person. Fine, don't want to get mired in that here. But, by failing to recognize that right to life advocates are driven by moral concern for babies, these women show once again how self-centered and selfish the average woman is.

[–]nugymmer 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The government already has laws that govern our bodies. I consider myself pro choice but you have to admit sometimes that you really don't have as much control over your body as you might assume. Case in point: drug use. Another case in point: if you're a Male baby your parents can cut parts of your penis off. Now where is the bodily autonomy when it comes to those cases?

Drugs are bad? So why is alcohol and tobacco exempt considering they are the most harmful? And having the most sensitive part of your penis removed has wonderful health benefits? Why aren't they cutting females since females get more infections than males? Oh no that's a human rights violation. So why cut makes them? Doesn't that make the whole situation look diabolically stupid?

Does the fact the the governor is a woman somehow justify this attack on reproductive rights? Because his is something this community should be vehemently against.

Women can oppress other women and hold anti- women views. Just like how men are usually men’s own worst enemy who also enforce all sorts of negative gender tropes on other men (I’ve certainly never had any women try to publicly shame or emasculate me or fight me but have had men do that).

These are such simple concepts but idk why it’s so hard to understand. Because I guess we’d rather just blame women and feminists for all our problems? Than acknowledge a society wide system of gender indoctrination that’s hurting BOTH men AND women and being furthers by BOTH men AND women.

This post is a link to another sub where they are blaming men for this law.

Women barely make up a fifth of the legislature in Iowa.

Anyway, I guess I just can’t being myself to care about the “intelligent male counterparts” comment in light of this, you know, pretty severe attack on human reproductive rights.

[–]ifelsedowhile 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women barely make up a fifth of the legislature in Iowa.

They make a 51% of the voters though. Isn't Iowa a democracy?

[–]Blutarg 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women barely make up a fifth of the legislature in Iowa.

Whose fault is that? If Iowa is like the rest of the country, a majority of voters there are women.

[–]whatafoolishsquid 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think it's valid because that sort of incorrect blame giving creates an us vs. them environment in politics that's only going to make it worse.

[+]contexistential -13 points-12 points-11 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Only this sub could turn an attack on women into an attack on women.

[–]whatafoolishsquid 8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

You mean, only this sub would point out that while plenty of male government officials support women's bodily autonomy and this law was enacted by a female governor, the soccer moms that represent the largest voting bloc in the country are still lopping parts of genitals off their sons. But we're supposed to swallow this feminist rhetoric that the evil men are trying to take away women's freedoms.

[–]contexistential -4 points-3 points-2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You can have empathy for one thing, be angry about something else, and care about a third. All simultaneously. It’s not hard.

[–]whatafoolishsquid 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't understand your point at all. This post and all the comments I've seen have been discussing the principle I just mentioned.
