Watched this film yesterday. Pretty good, shows that there is a difference between what women's rights wants and mens. I tried to watch this with an open mind to women's plightUnfortunately, where the same goals overlap (ie. end rape vs end rape of women, domestic violence vs domestic violence against women), women's rights groups lose their mind.

For anyone who hasn't seen this, it's good. It's definitely more of a primer than a film for "advanced" knowledge, but if you're looking for that, or even a reminder of some basic information, I would take a look if you're in Southern California or otherwise.

Wow this is exciting. I watched The Red Pill for a project in my high school Gov class. Man, the amount of arguments I had with the girls over the sincere questions I had with the guys after my presentation was devastating heartbreaking. Even my teacher, who was a male, was skeptical about me having Men’s Rights as my topic. Ended up getting an A and a more open eye thanks to this documentary.

This is great news since I’m only 40 min from Cal Poly. Thank you for posting OP. I look forward to attending.

Can't commend her enough for doing this, I think it's very telling that she started out the film as a feminist expecting a negative outlook on the MRM, but by the end, was pro-MRA. Any honest look at the data and ethics shows that we are the right side.

Also telling to me is how anti-MRA factions have avoided this so much- why? If we're clearly wrong, then any documentary about us should show that, and you should want people to see it- what are you afraid of?

A few people are asking "Who are 'Men Against Violence'?" (the event's sponsors) which I thought was a fair question, so I did a bit of digging.

AFAICT there is no website that directly relates to any query I concocted that might yield results; that said, there are many "Men Against Violence" groups at state and county level, including:

one closely connected with The Men's Story Project^1;
another with connections to CALCASA - Californian Coalition Against Sexual Assault;
another based in Florida called MAVAW (Men Against Violence Against Women).

After more rummaging and following, I think I found who it is. It's here on the Cal Poly Pomona website, and is about what I expected to find - i.e. helping to host The Vagina Monologues and receiving grant funding from Verizon Foundation (whoever they might be).

Now, before anyone starts taking the short cut between an unwarranted assumption and a foregone conclusion, I should point out that since "Men Against Violence" seems to be a Cal Poly student group, it's possible (and even probable) that their input has nothing at all to do with Cassie Jaye - she may well have negotiated whatever fee she gets with the admin at Cal Poly and it'd thus be out of her hands if some college group gets to plaster their schtick over the flyer.

Note - this is all speculation on my part. Nonetheless, if "Men Against Violence" is who I think they are, it should give anyone going a hint as to the sort of perspective with which Cal Poly (and, I daresay, a vocal proportion of its students) will treat the event.

1] An organisation which "Engag[es] Boys and Men for Healthy Masculinities and the Prevention of Violence Against Women" that took part in "... a conference entitled “Paving a Rocky Road: Removing Barriers to Men’s Engagement”. I don't think I need say more.
