No male school shooter would ever have the header image of an article about how he shot up his school be lead by such an innocently happy photo of him with his dog in a field of fallen leaves.

“These false reports are damaging, both for true survivors of sexual assault and for the members of our community who experienced fear and alarm from the reports,”...

Deliberately omitting the most significant (and obvious) demographic. They afraid of something?

[–]Unnecessary_Timeline[S] 40 points41 points42 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yep…they always have to draw attention away from male victims to highlight the “real” victims, AKA women.

Imagine the media saying that the real victims of the 21 year old white woman who got 14 year old Black boy Emmitt Till sentenced to death at 15 years old as a result of a false rape accusation, that the real victims were the white women who really were raped by 14 year old Black boys.

That’s the kind of deceit we need to be loudly pointing out every time this shit happens…Feminists purposefully misdirect victimhood back toward women as a social class in a purposeful effort to shift the victim narrative back toward women, because they have no prescribed response for when a man has been directly persecuted and victimized by a woman as a result of her social privilege.

Imagine the media saying that the real victims of the 21 year old white woman who got 14 year old Black boy Emmitt Till sentenced to death at 15 years old as a result of a false rape accusation, that the real victims were the white women who really were raped by 14 year old Black boys.

Awesome analogy. To complete the full deceitful assertion made in the article:

... the real victims were the white women who really were raped by 14 year old Black boys, plus all the other white women who experienced fear and alarm about the threat of Black violence in response to her claims.

The extreme prejudice in their mindset is made abundantly clear by just this simple example of cross-cultural juxtaposition. And so that the purpose behind this comparison is unambiguous, the racial stereotype I used in my full analogy is abhorrent. Full stop.

That's the part of the story that stood out to me the most as well. Good on you for catching it. To quote the full paragraph from the article:

“These false reports are damaging, both for true survivors of sexual assault and for the members of our community who experienced fear and alarm from the reports,” the university said, while adding that false reports in sexual assault cases are rare.

The direct source of the quote is important, being that it's the university that is saying this. Honestly though, it's unsurprising that a well-known activist hotbed like Stanford would completely ignore the actual male victims who were falsely accused and had real-life mobs form against them and demand they be punished for crimes they did not commit. I know the media and academics always describe these gatherings as "protests", but let's be clear, when they are formed to enact – or force someone else to enact – punishment against one or more people, then they are a mob. Nothing more.

Also, notice how they just had to add in that bit about "false reports are rare". It's so predictable you can set your watch to it. Whenever there's another case of mob injustice, they downplay the frequency and the effects of false accusations. Even worse, they never face the reality that the process they have normalized will always reward this type of dishonesty. The system of publicly-made accusations and "believe all wahmen!" is flawed by its very nature, and they just accept that "mistakes will continue to happen". There's only one way to describe that attitude: pure evil.

While I normally would agree, in this instance, given that there was no accusation and she declined to speak to police, there weren't any direct male victims. Reading the article it seems her intention was to get victim compensation money.

Edit- found the "read more" button and discovered that she had, in fact, accused a man of being her rapist.

In January, during an interview with a District Attorney’s Office investigator, Gries is said to have admitted to lying about the rapes and written an apology letter to the man who was the target of her allegations.

“She stated she was upset with the victim because she felt he gave her ‘false intention’ and turned her friends against her,” prosecutors said.

There seems to be at least one direct vicitm.

[–]KnackwurstNightmare 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I stand corrected. I thought I had read the entire article but missed the "read more" button. So, not only would I normally agree, I now do wholeheartedly agree.

[–]Lasttoflinch 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No worries. I entirely agree with your original comment had there been no direct victim.

FYI this is a new case, she was literally arrested today (March 15th 2023)

A 25-year-old Stanford University employee [Jennifer Gries] was arrested Wednesday and charged with felony perjury for allegedly lying about being raped twice last year on campus, authorities said.

Gries is said to have admitted to lying about the rapes and written an apology letter to the man who was the target of her allegations.

The rape reports led Stanford University police to issue campus-wide electronic alerts, which prompted widespread fear and a protest in October by hundreds of students who marched to demand university officials do more to protect students.

Investigators also found Gries had filed a sexual harassment complaint in March 2022 against a male coworker with the university’s human resources department, which found the allegation was unfounded, prosecutors said.

Yet another serial false accuser. These liars need to be arrested the first time, not the 3rd time, or like the woman in the UK, the 10th time. Ridiculous.

Her name needs to be published along with a photo so she can be avoided.

A quick google search makes finding her LinkedIn pretty easy— not sure if that info is actually useful.

In October 2022 students protested in support of Jennifer Gries, demanding that the falsely accused man be fired. Jennifer Gries (25) falsely accused her coworker. Oof.

[–]Daddy_data_nerd 14 points15 points16 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Are you talking about Jennifer Gries, the woman who lied about being raped and sexually harassed at Stanford University?

[–]RoryTate 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

In October 2022 students protested in support of Jennifer Gries, demanding that the falsely accused man be fired.

Correction: In October 2022 a real-life mob formed in support of Jennifer Gries, demanding that the falsely accused man be fired.

It's not a protest when you're enacting vengeance on a person. That's what the word "mob" or "witch hunt" is for. I wonder if racists at the other extreme end of the political spectrum will start calling the lynching of Emmett Till: "a mostly peaceful protest speaking out against the abuse of women". SMH.

And added to the sexual offender registry

Definitely needs to be permanently put on that list.

It is amazing how misandrist the media is:

from the article:

“These false reports are damaging, both for true survivors of sexual assault and for the members of our community who experienced fear and alarm from the reports,”

In short, there are two real victims here: true survivors of sexual assaults (read, other women) and "members of the community who experience fear." (read, other women).

The man who was falsely accused, who could have spent years being bars, whose life and reputation could have been destroyed, guess what.... not a victim. He does not count. Disgusting.

These aren’t even the only consequences either…. How about the mental consequences that come with having someone try and ruin your life and accuse you of a horrible crime, the anxiety and fear you’ll have in the back of your mind literally any time you’re alone with a woman, etc.

[–]RandyRenegade 11 points12 points13 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

First there was a woman sentenced in england for raping a man, then this happening at a university. These cases should be so obvious but for them to be charged in places that are so hostile towards men are massive victories that have been long overdue.

Alarmimg regularly is how often this is happening. Universities are the nests where the eggs of these women are laid.

Lock her up. Lock her up. Lock her up…and throw away the key. How many innocent men are in prison due to lies and false accusations?

[–]Aimless-Nomad 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Something else to add to the list

[–]Halafax 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Obligatory :

“These false reports are damaging, both for true survivors of sexual assault and for the members of our community who experienced fear and alarm from the reports,” the university said, while adding that false reports in sexual assault cases are rare “These false reports are damaging, both for true survivors of sexual assault and for the members of our community who experienced fear and alarm from the reports,” the university said, while adding that false reports in sexual assault cases are rare."

Stanford immediately erased the victim, the man she was trying to harm.
