It's the case already. In the UK, apart from family and children allowances, there is a thing called "Council Tax". This is based on the value of your property. Since I live alone, I get a discount. 33%. Not fifty percent of what a couple would pay.

German's are too depressed to breed. All the new people who don't yet have jobs are having the kids. Somebody's got to pay for them.

In my country marry/partnership people get 3% discount plus 5% for each child. So if you’re marry and have 2 children you get a 13% discount in taxes.

Well, at least in Germany corporations are not considered people to that great extent. So it doesn't concern them.

On the other hand, those corporation receive most income and hold most wealth and created the economic climate where children are a burden. So taxing them seems more promising to me to increase revenue and more promising to redirect resources and dedication towards children.

You have to view this through the lens of germanys fertility crisis, demographic changes and how the pension and retirement system is build up.

I have to agree with him on that actually. Families should benefit more.

well, that's kind of the way it goes, but usually it works out through tax breaks for married people, which... isn't necessarily fair because the burden for raising kids is otherwise on people with kids(who, traditionally, have been married).

To be honest, if you have kids you absolutely should get tax breaks because what you're doing is raising the future of the nation, people who will keep your society running when you no longer can, who will be paying taxes when you can't. You're giving up years of your life, tens if not hundreds of thousands of euros and making sacrifices galore.

I'm not saying that dropping a crotch-goblin makes you either a hero or immediately worthy of having cash thrown at you, and quite frankly after two you should be getting less extra per child... but moaning about not paying less tax just because you don't have a kid? yeah, right.

Tax just needs to be applied fairly, and it absolutely should not be a license to print money by bending over or by wearing a ring.
