Today, Gab.com was shut down by its host in response to the synagogue shooting and the site coming up in the news in relation to it.

A few months ago, the Red Pill subreddit was quarantined—meaning it’s posts don’t show up on the front page even if you’re subscribed to it—and their quarantine message explicitly uses feminist terms, encouraging users to seek examples of “positive masculinity” elsewhere.

I have no particular love for either Gab or TRP, but I do consider the actions taken against them to be forms of censorship and violations of free speech.

This strategy of deplatforming political dissidents on the Left is showing no signs of slowing down; in fact, it seems to be gaining steam. It seems like it’s just a matter of time before Reddit bans or quarantines us like the TRP sub.

If that happens, I will be quitting Reddit. Yes, that’s exactly what they want, but I don’t care. I can’t fight the admins, and they’re legally allowed to do as they see fit with the site.

I am curious if other people share my concerns and particularly if there’s been any sign from the admins that this won’t happen. Because right now it’s looking more and more likely.
