All input is properly vetted for bias. The challenge I face is removing all references to identifiable groups before the information goes live.

Egalitarians are a great bunch, don't get me wrong, but they are not free of bias. My intent with involving the extreme ends of the spectrum is to gather information on men's issues that may have been looked over by moderates.

I plan to have a number of users from r/menslib, r/mensrights, r/Egalitarianism, and r/FeMRADebates look through the sections before they go up.

The intent of the RBOMI is to provide information from a completely neutral standpoint, in a way that does not alienate anybody reading it. That is the central tenet of the RBOMI, and that is what will stand behind all decisions.

I am also thinking of creating a Reference Book of Women's Issues to go alongside. Always good to cover the butt.

Dear /r/MensLib /u/Jolfadr

You have banned so many who have legitimately worked to engage in dialogue, I'm not surprised that you should report anyone is banned in your sub.

It's a standing joke, how certain Identitarian Subs ban others in most arbitrary ways, and for no apparent reason other than Mods and members suffering the well known Cognitive Bias "The BackFire Effect". They suffer even minor levels of cognative dissonace and out comes The Ban Hammer. When a closed mind is all you have your tool set is limited and often manifests as a the wrong one, like trying to use a nail with a screwdriver.

You invited us all to look at your Sub's Sidebar for resources, So I've had a look at your sidebar and the resources seem quite controlling. All you list is Your Rules and Moderators .... not much of a resource ... or maybe you are not keeping up with the changes from Old To New Reddit. When telling folks to look at resources do make sure you are clear about where they are. Otherwise, it makes you look uncaring, imperious and a Tad Controlling.^{^(<Quiet} Chuckle to Self>)

This sub is proactive in dialogue and standing against Those Who Backfire with bias - "The Backfire Effect".^{^(<See} Below>) Maybe you should come on over and have a chat more often.

And please do check out OUR Sidebars (Old And New), our posts and more for the Materials, References and Sources we provide so freely across so many sectors, so that so many can read, investigate, learn and hold their own mind and counsel. You may find that the memetic beliefs you have picked up listening to others have left you with a Very Biased and Incorrect Perception of This Sub and those who post and communicate here.

You could of course challenge yourself by looking at posts on such subjects as "Activism and Support". I looked for themes and patterns in /r/MensLib, but they seem to be lacking.

The mods here are also quite hands off and tolerate much, and we ban very few people because of behaviour and never because they hold a view that anyone here could find challenging, uncomfortable, revelatory or even old hat.

PS could /r/MensLib and it's members stop attempting to present themselves as the Universal Voice Of Gay Men and the defacto end of discussion on Men's Rights. As an old Warhorse Poufter^{<English Idiom>} with over 35 years of campaigning and activism under me belt, I find it mind boggling that so many still See Feminism as a positive venue for G.A.Y. (Good As You) Men, when all they can ever hope for is to be an Honorary Woman. (See Nathanson and Young - Misandry series). Linking G.A.Y. Pride to feminism is quite wrong, given how Pride was actually spoken against and obstructed by so many Fundamentalist Feminists in the USA. They only changed their tack when they realised they could Recruit G.A.Y men as a bastion of support, whilst actively seeking to limit men's sexuality. THE BACKFIRE EFFECT
Given evidence against their beliefs, people can reject the evidence and believe even more strongly.
Abstract: When reporting scientific information, journalists often present common myths that are refuted with scientific facts. However, correcting misinformation this way is often not only ineffective but can increase the likelihood that people misremember it as true. We test this backfire effect in the context of journalistic coverage and examine how to counteract it. In a web-based experiment, we find evidence for a systematic backfire effect that occurs after a few minutes and strengthens after five days. Results show that forming judgments immediately during reception (in contrast to memory-based) can reduce backfire effects and prevent erroneous memory from affecting participants’ attitudes.

The Debunking Handbook
Debunking myths is problematic. Unless great care is taken, any effort to debunk misinformation can inadvertently reinforce the very myths one seeks to correct. To avoid these “backfire effects”, an effective debunking requires three major elements.
First, the refutation must focus on core facts rather than the myth to avoid the misinformation becoming more familiar.
Second, any mention of a myth should be preceded by explicit warnings to notify the reader that the upcoming information is false.
Third, the refutation should include an alternative explanation that accounts for important qualities in the original misinformation.
