The deal is NIL. Divorces can, especially if there are custody issues, can take years and years to resolve, as each side chooses that "this is my hill to die on!" If any lawyer was going to do a Pro Bono divorce case? They'd be inundated with 1000's of hard luck divorce cases from penniless people who want everything, and are convinced their STBX can pull a million dollars out of thin air because "I was wronged!"

Here is the deal though. Sometimes a lawyer will let a client "run up a tab" at their lawyer's office. In the end, when they get their settlement, they can pay up.

But in reality? After most divorces, the couple is left bankrupt, unable to pay legal obligations and all of the assets are long gone.

If I was a lawyer? I wouldn't take a pro bono case in a million years.

They aren’t going to work for free but that doesn’t mean they’ll drop the case. Lawyers always get paid first and once they get a handle on your assets, if there are any, they’ll work as hard as needed to get their fee from your assets.

I haven't found one yet. They all want their $300 plus an hour. The only winners are the lawyers and the women. Guys get screwed.

My divorce is not yet filed and I’m already 10’s of thousands in the hole. I have advised my lawyer many times that I’d like to move faster and to do this and that and still see monthly bills of between $2500-5600 for answering emails, call with opposing counsel. They really don’t care or give two you know whats about the family or the hurt that the divorce is doing to them as they continue to charge $450+ an hour for BS while prolonging your case as much as possible.

Ive seen a law school help with a divorce case aa practice, but it was for the women as Pro Bono. Family court has cases drawn out to bleed money, yes in many cases to squeeze dollars from those who cant afford it.
