Hi everyone. I saw a post describing The Missing White Woman Syndrome and I’d like to share my experience with it being homeless in Los Angeles for 6 months in the beginning of 2018. The truth is the majority of women in twitter and social media spouting “kill all men” or “all men are rapists” are majority white women living in a bubble who don’t give a SHIT about people with actual struggles. I’ve seen how both women and men treat homeless people. I’ve seen how much these self-proclaimed feminists turn their blind eye to homeless women (usually ex sex workers, native Americans, Asians, and minorities) the ones who deserve to have their voices and struggles heard instead of privileged upper middle class white women. The politicized death of Sarah Everard shows you that all it takes is the death of one white woman and unfortunately all the women worldwide will repeat white feminist rhetoric without questioning why mostly white women death get media attention. Where’s the worldwide protests for women getting stoned for adultery in some places? Or do brown women lives not matter?

As for men. Homeless men really have it bad (all races.) Usually as a homeless man people were less likely to help us (those who did were usually men, but also the worst offenders against us were also men) We had less shelters to access in LA. Police kick us out of streets more frequently and aggressively. A lot of us had the option of showering, but what a lot of you civilians don’t realize is that smelling bad, not shaving, and old clothes are usually defense mechanisms by us to avoid getting sexually assaulted. I can’t begin to describe how much rape, murder, assault, and robbery of homeless men goes unreported because people don’t give a shit. I had friends who were robbed or assaulted in LA TWICE a day and they considered that a blessing so please don’t take these stats that white privileged women give you on twitter because the fact is A LOT of crimes against us goes unreported (not that rich white women give a shit about if we live or die). We also had an unwritten rule in the streets, if someone gives you money or goods then NEVER ask them where it came from. Usually because a lot of it was stolen from men, and robbers also ADMITTED to me that police care less and put in less efforts in investigations when the victim was a man (specifically poorer men) but would go all out if the victim was a white woman. That’s why a lot of robbers here in Koreatown prefer to rob and assault men who walk alone. It was really sad living as a homeless man and I’m glad I left the streets in 6 months only because the amount of injustice you see will make any man go insane. People (especially women) looked at us like we aren’t human, as if we were from another species. They were also more likely to call the police on us to get us out of certain streets. Well lady WHERE THE FUCK CAN WE GO? I’m sorry if this ended up being a rant but I’m tired of Becky from Woodland Hills spouting how she’s oppressed in social media while driving her BMW and claiming “Men are privileged” She’ll never know what real oppression and being voiceless feel likes.
